If he had murdered a person would you be saying the same thing?
No, of course I wouldn't say that. But he killed an animal.
If he had murdered a person would you be saying the same thing?
He killed that deer just for the rack and that's why the law differentiates on the rack size.
If he took it to feed his family it would be a slap on the wrist.
Also, I have to ask because I do not hunt much. How long before the meat is wasted by not field dressing it right away in what I assume is colder weather? To word it differently, how long did these assholes sit around with an illegal dead deer?
Common sense would say you get your deer and get the hell out of there.
So you don’t mind rules but you want to make the rules. No, of course I wouldn't say that. But he killed an animal.

Answer the question. So animals and people are the same?
Your question is comparing asteroids to hemorrhoids.Answer the question.
Your question is comparing asteroids to hemorrhoids.
He is simply saying , barring any other criminal history that would show recidivism , that killing a fucking deer out of season( for whatever reason) should not strip you of your rights as a citizen. Especially over an arbitrary number of inches of antler growth.
Not at any packing house I've ever been to. Where are you going? All you folks who are lamenting the “waste of an animal” who support commercial pork and beef production are serious hypocrites.
Do you know how many hundreds of hogs and cows are killed and wasted every day? And I’m not talking about the ones that are eaten, I’m talking about the ones that are just wasted.
A helluva lot. But one deer matters so much to you?
Give me a break!
Yep. While not causing suffering and waste of life may not be the primary motivator of people running a slaughterhouse (though I'm sure that is an active concern of many involved), every ounce of a carcass that's discarded instead of sold as processed product is money lost. Both ethics and business sense demand as little waste as possibleEvery slaughter house, or processing plant that I know of, if it wasn't fit for human consumption, they either made dog food or fertilizer out of it. Horns, hooves, blood and hides were used for something useful. Very little waste.
No one is objecting to punishment. I believe that the objection is stemming from stripping his rights as a citizen for life over killing a deer. If he was torturing it in some ritualistic Democrat ceremony , or has a record of recidivism then sure, slap a felony on him. If the felony charge is stemming entirely from 1/2” of antler growth, then it is a bullshit charge. Same level as a hate crime is a bullshit add on charge.Odd that anyone would object to the guy being punished.
Had he shot a doe to feed his destitute and starving family I might pity him and hope for leniency. He was trophy poaching pure and simple and damn well knew it!
Speeding in a school zone, poaching a deer at night, vandalizing mailboxes, breaking a truck window to steal a gun, shoplifting tools from Lowes........whatever.
I don't know what the respective penalties are but I know I pay with money or jail time if I break the law and get caught red handed.
Where is there cause to debate?
So I'm not a fan of trophy hunting but... if wasting meat is a factor in charges why won't a game warden let you keep a deer you hit with your car accidentally? Most places I've been they burn the carcass and that strikes me as just a little hypocritical.
