So, after daily public statements by Smith County officials, including a statement by tge County Judge last night, that there would be no shelter in place order, the Judge just issued a two week stay at home order.

Since the stay at home wording seemed odd to me, I searched until I found a reasonable explanation using the language from the order. Essentially the judge told people to stay at home unless they need to go out for gas, groceries, home supplies, banking, medical, pharmacy and work. The list of essential businesses is equally large and also allows most small businesses with less than 10 employees to stay open.

I am scratching my head wondering why the order, which is punishable by up to a $1000 fine or 6 months in jail, was issued when the restrictions are really minimal and basically represent what everyone around here has been doing anyway.

I live about 100 yards from the Cherokee County line, so its no problem for me, but I think it will do nothing but alarm folks since I have already seen it referred to as a lockdown on our Nextdoor site.

Because politicians cannot think for themselves. The other counties are doing this so I better too mentality. REmember most politicians were the C- students in high school.

So a medical grade ventilator costs around $25K. Maybe I'll invest my Trump Money and in 20 years when I reach 70 I'll be able to buy one of my own. That's if the beer virus doesn't mutate into the whiskey tango foxtrot virus and kill us all before then.

If you’re driving in your car, there’s a zero percent chance that you’re getting or spreading a virus.

I’m a vendor of an essential product to an essential retailer so I’m on the road every day. The last thing I’m going to do is complain about people exercising their freedom in the face of authoritarian idiots like Clay Jenkins making oppressive declarations based on faulty alarmist predictions.

Left the house for the first time since the shelter in place order earlier this week. There sure were a lot of cars on the road...

3rd grandchild was born last night and had to watch via FaceTime since hospitals are locked down. The new parents were starving after an all day delivery so took them some food just after midnight. Driving across Frisco was a ghost town. A fast food manager told me the other day they should just close down by midnight, the place becomes a ghost town. Traffic is definitely down when I've made essential runs.
