Well - at the risk of all the group anti-NRA/TSRA naysayers ganging up on me, I'm gonna post this link and a transcript of same. If you go to the link, you can click on another link down in the comments to hear a short recording of part of my radio interview.

While many of y'all post on here, slamming TSRA and elsewhere crying about "mah gun rights", there ARE TSRA members around the state working hard to actively defend gun rights for everyone, both around the state and in various communities within. You'll notice that within 3 hours of my initial discussion with the mayor, the city's position was reversed - without screaming, demonstrations or other extraneous methods - THAT is how you effect change, by working within the political system. There's plenty of time for demonstrations, etc later if reasoned discussions don't effect the desired change.

As you read it, bear in mind - I also have a business to run that I essentially put on hold while chasing this issue down because it took precedence over anything else. And that was fine, because the gun rights of EVERYONE (even those that want to bad mouth TSRA) matter more to me (and the rest of TSRA) than anything else.

    FINAL UPDATE below!

    READ UPDATE below!!

If you live in the City of New Braunfels, you need to know that the city has ordered all gun shops to cease business because of their emergency declaration! I just did a short live interview with KTSA, who assured me they will be following up with the city about this.
I spoke with Justin Meadows (my council member) about this this morning, who confirmed the city's position. I've asked him to relay to the mayor AND the City Attorney that they ARE in violation of both state AND SCOTUS findings. He assured me he'd ask the City Attorney to contact me. I've also been in contact with the Texas State Rifle Association.
PLEASE SHARE THIS - the citizens of this community NEEDS to know about this!

    UPDATE:
Spoke with the City Attorney just now, who's said that until they get direction/clarification from the AG's office and/or the mayor, the orders will stand.
Minutes after THAT discussion, I spoke with Mayor Barron Casteel, who was genuinely surprised that ANY gun store had been directed to close, and assured me that corrective action would be taken.

One thing to bear in mind - this is a VERY historic situation, one that has never been encountered before. Because of that, there's a LOT of "new territory", and there's going to be refinements required on an ongoing basis.

I want to emphasize that EVERY conversation I've had - from Councilman Justin to Mayor Casteel - has been amicable and productive, and I'm confident that this situation has been resolved, or will be very shortly.

    FINAL UPDATE:

I'm pleased to tell everyone that shortly after noon today, I received a call back from the New Braunfels City Attorney Val Acevedo to inform me that they had, in fact, received the requested opinion from the Texas AG's office, and as a result were declaring ALL gun shops to be "essential businesses".

While I'd have preferred that the clarification never have been needed, it was gratifying to see the speed and integrity with which this issue was resolved in the midst of all the other issues the city is having to deal with. One of the biggest take-aways from this situation today was the reminder that while it sometimes is frustrating, the democracy that we live in DOES ultimately respond to those it serves. By all parties keeping calm and discussing the issue, we were able to reach a resolution in mere hours - one that served to help reinforce the ideals that we all hold dear. I'd really like to take time to expressly thank Councilman Justin Meadows, who worked with me from last night to help reach out to those best able to effect the changes. We sometimes forget - this isn't his "day job" - but one he chose to undertake as a matter of service to his community. Justin, from the bottom of my heart, I VERY much appreciate you always being willing to take my calls and working to find resolution to ANY issue!

Last I heard, it turns out GM couldn’t switch to making ventilators nearly as quickly as thought. They would need much longer to make the change and would only turn out a fraction of the ventilators initially planned for.

Such is the reason Trump pulled back on his push to get a contract with them which the MSM spun as “Trump says ventilators are too expensive”

Even assuming we have the parts or the means to manufacture them in mass quantities quickly, setting up a plant to build them and training people to do it would not happen overnight.
It would take someone with the manufacturing base in place and the logistics of farming out all the parts to machine shops would be a nightmare in itself.

I suspect that many of those "anti-" people you mention have a very hard time in life. They don't seem to understand things like picking your battles, picking the right time to make your move, negotiating, having rational discussion with those who disagree, etc. They seem to feel that they either get their way 100% or we should burn down the state house. There are a bunch of people fighting the good fight every day and we need to appreciate those efforts instead of trying to find fault.

Lots of things have to happen. But speaking from personal experience, if top management really wants them to happen this can occur pretty quickly. But not overnight, of course.

So besides one person asking in a personal capacity for a city council member to relay a message, what did the TSRA do? The outcome sounds like a result of Rep Burrows (working with Michael Cargill maybe?) requesting an attorney general opinion and that opinion letter being published yesterday (ref https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/opinion-files/opinion/2020/kp-0296.pdf).

As usual, folks want to twist things - the part you missed is that my councilman, the city attorney and the mayor all know of my connections to TSRA. More importantly, I already had the commitment from the mayor to rescind the rule prior to the AG's finding. To be sure - the AG's letter gave ALL of us much-needed backing should it be needed - but for this community, it wasn't needed. Oh - and Mike Cox was also working to get that ruling from the AG - as were several other pro-2nd groups.

I didn't twist a thing. I asked an open-ended question. The information I had received led to a different understanding. I didn't miss anything - you didn't share it.

If you've wondered why you might feel like naysayers are ganging up on you, you might consider what you do (like this reply) and how it might lead to a situation like that. You make a thread with grand claims that are not supported by any information publicly available, I ask a simple open-ended question, and you say I'm twisting things. THAT is why a lot of people distrust the TSRA.

I made NO "grand claims" - I reported an incident that happened, and what was done to rectify it. You can verify it with any of the tagged people I named, if you care to. You could also call the radio station in question and ask them.

    Thank you! And TSRA!

No thanks needed, Charlie - although I DO appreciate it. One of the reasons I got involved w/TSRA was the ability to get directly involved in 2nd Amendment issues that seem to materialize around us unexpectedly. It gives me great resources to draw on, and a greater legitimacy when I DO have to approach a governmental figure.

The big shadow over all these dastardly city governments is that no one was punished for the serious misdeeds over here in LA following the Katrina floods. Yes, ex-New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin did go to the Seagoville Federal Prison "Camp Fed"; but he was never even charged with his most serious crimes against citizens. The two complicit area Sheriffs also got off, no charges. Even the imported California Storm Troopers who beat the old lady on the infamous video were never charged.

    Note the recurrent "never charged".

How could we expect any locals to learn, if charges for the most serious abuses never materialize?

Our local DA's and our State's Attorneys must be MADE to enforce our Constitution(s), or all is for naught !

We must demand that legal precedents be set for this gross bureaucratic & official misbehavior.

This is why we keep seeing this crime against us all.

    That is all correct.
There were state troopers from a least 5 different states there , along with the National Guard, and those pricks at St Tammany Parish SO
The 2A violations are well documented and nobody got punished for any of it.
