Baylor in McKinney has one large COVID-19 tent set up to test patients outside of the main hospital building. A pretty good size tent; I’d estimate at least 20’x30’. They plan to erect a second one, next week I believe. Baylor administration is estimating the peak number of infections will not occur until the third week of April.

Also they’re unwilling to expend a virus test kit unless you’re running a significant fever. You can be exhibiting multiple other symptoms but unless you also have a fever, they don’t perform a COVID-19 test on you.

To me, this yields absolutely no confidence in the “official” new case numbers reported on the news. Since they are not performing virus tests, due to a shortage of test kits, they have absolutely no idea how many new cases are popping up in the county.

My buddy has recovered, but is still waiting for test results.

They wouldn’t test him initially, was told to go home and only come back if he got worse. They also said to assume he has it.

He did get worse, he went back to the ER, they tested him and sent him home. Once again, assume he has it.

I think he still has to wait a day or two more before he gets test results back.

We had nurse in the hospital fall ill this weekend. She had worked one day last week. She was tested yesterday afternoon. Got the results this morning. Negative.

Glad she got tested. Cousin did not, everyone in family has to SQ. Would suck for the public if one was asymptotic.

Here’s an article about folks in Austin not being able to get tested. Parallels our experience in McKinney - Baylor hospital is cited in this article too.

Again, the numbers you hear on the news of, “new cases” reported are just completely bogus. If they’re not testing folks, there’s no way they have a handle on knowing how many new cases are in your county.

ETA: The CDC doctor that appears with Trump says their computer model now forecasts between 100K Americans will die (best case scenario) and 200K - worse case scenario, before this thing runs its course. With millions ultimately infected.
