The discussion about 30-30 popularity keeps coming to mind. Someone mentioned it could be age specific. What say ye?

I bought mine at a pawn shop in the 80's. Came with a rubberized scope which is still on it. Its taken lots of deer and pigs. Any time i hunt in E TX it goes with me. I load some 125g HPs for it that are as lethal as anything I have ever loaded for a gun of any caliber.

Pawn shop guy said the guy he got it from told him it was dead on at 100yds. I took it from the pawn shop to the woods, and shot a nice 10 point buck with it a few hours later.

Along with the guitar I traded in, I was only out $32 for it.

The first lever gun I ever owned was sort of an inheritance, from my wife's side of the family. It was a 1950s-vintage Winchester Model 94 in .32WinSpl. Sadly, I no longer have that firearm; however, I've had two other Model 94s and now have a Marlin 336.

I think it's fair to say that more deer have been taken in this country with the trusty .30WCF/.30-30 than about anything else out there.

I’ll play, might as well since my comment started the discussion.

Yes, bought it in 09 when I was 29. It was reasonably priced, was from a fellow Marine, required no 4473 and I figured it’d be cool to have. Put less than 40 rounds through it a few weekends later and haven’t fired it since.

    It’s a Winchester Model 94 made in 1981.

I remember when all the old coots were snatching up the pre-64's when Winchester announced the discontinuation of the 94. After the speculators decided the fad had passed I picked up an early 50's model with a nice honest wear petina for under $400. I don't shoot it much but it's a good looking rifle and a great piece of Americana.

I own exactly ONE .30-30, a pre-WWII single shot "Euro-style stalking rifle", that weighs about 4.5 pounds, that I bought in 1970 at WAFFEN BENNEWITZ in "K-town", BRD.
(It was just too "purty" to leave in the shop.)

Inasmuch as .30-30 is not a common caliber in German rifles, I've wondered numerous times about who had it custom-made BUT the rifle's not talking.

Never have owned one but have shot a few.

Meh on the round itself. Never had a need for it and it has not really interested me as a plinker.

Not that I have anything against it per say and if the right deal came along I could own it but I am definitely not pursuing it.

I have a hand me down pre 64. I’ve shot the shit out of it. I’m a hunter yet never have I hunted with the 30-30. They will do pretty much what most any other rifle will do out to 200 yards or so. Hit targets and kill animals.
