My brother has one, so I have had the opportunity to try it out. Just doesn't seem right for me.

    It's a nice pistol though.

No harm, no foul. If you're not used to them, I can see where you'd have trouble becoming accustomed to it. I carried a Colt Mustang as a pocket/boot pistol for many years simply because it was so compact, so when the P-938 came out, it's nominal increase in size vs cartridge made it a no-brainer for me.

....does a bill of sale not protect the buyer as well?

Does the BOS not protect you from being charged with receipt of stolen property?

NOT having one doesn't mean you'll be charged, either. Either way - a BOS has no legal standing in court - about all it does is leave a paper trail to the burglar that grabs it from the sellers home when he breaks in and has himself a new shopping list.

If (a big IF) the firearm was registered to you, then you should either do a FFL dealer transfer OR at a minimum get a bill of sale with noted ID numbers. The judge will allow the BOS or not, it is still evidence that you no longer owned a firearm which may be involved in a crime.

Ha Ha I get your drift! well sir in some cities and states, firearms must be purchased via a permit and the weapon registered to the buyer. If that person then moved to a state like Texas and sold the weapon he/she should get some sort of proof that ownership was transferred. I do this with any weapon which I filled out a yellow sheet for...just a little paranoia on my part.

You do realize your not subject to the laws of Trashcanistan as a Texas resident, correct.

You can do whatever you want, just make sure your paranoia is clear if you post a classified here.

BOS is a lightning rod topic here, and by making your requirements known clearly and upfront, you’ll avoid some awkward situations.

Why do you need proof it was transferred ?

It isn't evidence of shit. I can write all the Bills of Sale you want right now. How many you need?

I find that not committing crimes works better than having magical paperwork.

But whatever let's you sleep at night.

I will never understand why people want to push registration of firearms.

It is not evidence of anything.

I can write a BOS right now for any gun I own or even guns I do not own and still keep it or sell it to someone else.

If you live in Texas now, you are not subject to the laws of a state you used to live in. It Texas, selling a firearm is pretty much like selling any other personal property. Records of sales are not required. Even if it was registered in another state. If they don't like it tough.

For all you new Texas residents from communist states:

—— In the communist state you came from, your only freedoms are those the state specifically allows through its all-knowing paternalistic generosity and largess.

—— In Texas, your freedoms include everything that isn’t specifically prohibited.

Having been born and raised behind enemy lines (Commiefornia) it was the "laws" we had to live under. They got so you had to "register" all long guns through a FFL too! Canada used to have that model but did away with it. There are 2 separate filings when purchasing or transferring firearms there, the 4473 and the STATE. The state one gives all information on said firearms (make, model, serial number...etc) as well as the buyer and seller (for transfers) information and goes into the state DOJ database (for future confiscation I suppose). Then you still have to wait 10 days to get your firearm. I know, you have that WTF look on your face right now...lol. You're thinking "you can't make this $hit up" but it's probably the tip of the iceberg. Have a little patience for transplants to adjust :)

Good ol' Dealer Record of Sale (DROS) form. That whole process is why all transfers including private party cost ~$100 in that Godforsaken state.

Mostly. The range I worked at kept the price high for incoming FFL transfers as they wanted to sell the guns they had in stock, not the same one from out of state for a few bucks less. Then to make it even more fun, the state decided we needed to collect sales tax on all incoming transfers. The transfer price went even higher then as it was just too much paperwork and a pain in the A$$.

You can't get the manager outside anymore, but if you hit the red button the car hop still comes out sooner or later.

Ours only does drive thru now...says two unrelated parties in the same vehicle isn’t social distancing and wouldn’t do it unless we were in two different vehicles.

So I had the other guy get in the bed and I drove around a second time.

    It worked.
