Buying a handgun with out of state LTC?

All,

I can't find anything on this online but was hoping you guys would have some insight. In Texas, are you allowed to purchase a handgun with an out of state LTC? I have a buddy that moved here recently but doesn't have a Texas DL yet.

Texas is OK with it, but Federal law prohibits it.

My AZ LTC is useless at a Texas FFL. Your buddy needs to figure a way to prove Texas Residency.

Water bill isn't gonna make it either.

Not sure I quite follow. Are you saying FFLs here will sell the firearm?

If so, what about at national chains like Cabela’s located here in Texas?

I am saying the Federal Govt prevents it, not Texas.

Your friend is SOL till he gets Texas ID/residency.

I had a Virginia Non-Resident for a while when Texas Handgun Permits required too many hours of school and too high a fee. Of course that has all changed for the better now, but I digress. My FFL would not offer a discount for any LTC except Texas. That has not changed as far as I can tell.

He is-not a Texas resident Therefore he can not purchase a handgun unless it is shipped back to his resident state ffl.

Out of state LTC is useless for purchase in Texas.
If he goes to an FFL, and he is actually a Texas resident, there is a process to purchase legally. However, especially right now, getting an FFL that will do it is probably not going to happen.
