I have wireless cameras, xmarto (Amazon) have the ability to act as repeaters so they can be daisy chained for long distances. Some of their cameras have a connector for a mic.

They are 12v so I set a pole, mounted a large solar cell, built a box on the pole to hold a sealed battery and solar controller. Do the math to make sure the battery is large enough to last over night.

I mounted that stuff about 10'-12' off the ground to keep critters and kids from messing with it. I'll try to take some pics this weekend.

Mine are connected to a NVR and 8 cameras keep a rolling 28 days with a 1tb drive. The NVR is connected to a WiFi access point that isn't internet connected and I use my phone (an old phone) or tablet on that network to monitor.

I also have a driveway alarm but it only sounds in the house. It supports multiple detectors and receivers. Each detector can be set set for a different tone at the receivers. That way I know which one went off.

    Hope that helps

Gate trigger needs to be burgler/tamper proof. 12vdc batt and air horn in tree/pole between front gate and house should work with Wifi - there are directional 'stamp' antennas. Solar power both with batt. backup at gate.
Rigged cell phone would be neat but delay between trigger & alarm (like Ring) might be too long. Assume it is for vehicle invader, not foot? Bluetooth doesn't have the range but could work with a hidden Wifi repeater. Assume there is no line-of-site for a laser pointer/trail cam receiver rig? A rigged walkie talkie might work on an 'off' channel.

    1/2 mile from the router....

That's why I picked that brand, the cameras can act as repeaters. They call it "Dreamliner" but that allows you to daisy chain the cameras.

The camera at my gate connects wirelessly to the camera on my guest cabin, that camera connects wirelessly to a camera under the eaves of my house and that camera connects wirelessly to the NVR. It causes a slight lag but all the cameras in that chain show up on the NVR.

Thanks for all the replies. Y'all have given me some good sources and pointed out some pitfalls!
