They may not cast it but we will see. They are putting a plate and screws in to stabilize the fracture on the radia. I will know more in several hours.
When they put the plates in my wrist they just put a splint on it for a week to let the swelling go down first. But mine had to be rebuilt with a piece of bone from my hip too. She will be back to slapping some sense into you in no time.

She is home, splinted, and ready for more pain meds. There are about 7 or 8 screws to hold all the fragments together. Things should improve after the next 2 or 3 days pain wise according to the doctor.

Excellent. I stopped taking the pain meds when I left the hospital that day. But I'm stupid, so there is that.
Keep it slightly elevated with as little movement as possible for a couple days and with anti-inflamatories she should be back to abusing you in no time. Some people will swell more than others so watch to make sure it doesn't swell too much.

Yep...I mainly get verbal abuse so that hasn’t stopped.
The ER had wrapped the initial splint too tight to begin with. Her new splint is better for managing that and after a few days she can take the splint off and only use it and the sling when out and about for protection.
I don’t think she will appreciate the recoil of the .38 I am putting in there

They are not going to cast it? If not, good to hear. It's a pain. Just don't let her over do it. Nice if she can get back to normal quicker.
I spent over 2 months in a cast. With 2 plates and at least 13 screws and several pieces of bone in such a weak joint as the wrist, they wanted to make sure they all fused in place. Rehab took over almost another month. Not fun.
And yeah, she probably won't like recoil for a while.
