I have not gotten a flu shot in 16 years because the one year I did, it got the flu anyway.

The yearly flu vaccines are made to cover for the strains of flu that are 'expected' to be seen for that particular flu season and sometimes they miss one. The flu vaccines are different every year and if you get them every year you get pretty good coverage. I spent my career working in Emergency and Urgent care areas and was exposed to flu on an almost daily basis. I also got the yearly flu shot every year for at least the last 30 years and despite being exposed to contagious persons frequently I haven't had the flu for many, many years. So many years that I can't remember when.

If and when I become a unhealthy or have an underlying health reason..i may get the flu shot.
I've had the flu 2 times in 16 years and each time I recovered

...This may be an extreme over reaction by the US...
I tend to agree with this sentiment, given a short lifetime's worth of experience. Both my parent's were born in the in the early 1930s; @BRD66 knows them and can attest. America has grown and prospered despite fatal infectious diseases since our inception.

The national self-doubt sickens me; America remains the greatest nation in the history of the world, yet she stands to fall due to self-doubt. That's wrong.

    Just my experience:
I never got flu shots and never had the flu; rarely even suffered a cold. Then one day in my sixties my Dr asked if I had my flu shot to which I replied naw that’s for kids and old folks…after a long stare he said “I hate to tell you this but”! Two years later I had hell with the flu and have had the shot ever since; without problems!!

BUT, right before Christmas 2019 my wife and I had serious bouts with flu like symptoms limited to respiratory problems. I was down for a week but she relapsed a second week. I mean SICK! She was even tested for the common flu and was negative.

We are convinced that was the early intro to the corona virus and I now hope we are right!!!

With the amount of lies coming from China about when they were aware and how it was spread I have little doubt there were cases in the US long before there was an “official” case.

Won’t know until the start doing antibody testing.

This story about Northern Command going underground in Colorado has me thinking
Has anyone seen any member of Congress do an interview all day?
Has anyone see them in public?

They might be "sheltering in place", "staying at home", "social distancing". Then again, they might be in a bio bunker waiting for us to die.
Either way, I'll keep on doing my job, loving my family and looking forward to my retirement.

It's called Continuity of Operations (COOP), and as defined in the National Continuity Policy Implementation Plan (NCPIP) and the National Security Presidential Directive 51/Homeland Security Presidential Directive 20 (NSPD-51/HSPD-20) is an effort within individual executive departments and agencies to ensure that Primary Mission Essential Functions (PMEFs) continue to be performed during a wide range of emergencies, including localized acts of nature, accidents and technological or attack-related emergencies.

All headquarters, organizations and units in the DoD have COOP plans as required by DoD Directive 3020.26: Continuity of Operations (COOP) Policy and Planning.

And I knew Gen Terry O'Shaughnessy, NORTHCOM/NORAD commander, when he was a colonel at SHAPE...

Just curious which metropolitan area and how many ICU beds are taken due to the beer virus. Dallas 3 days ago reported 98% of available hospital beds empty. Do they work in some small hospital with a tiny ICU area because they usually ship those cases off?

I guess that would depend if epidemiologists use a bunch of maybes and mights to come up with their position. A sneeze could just as easily not so much as make one person sick, while an IED could kill dozens.

I can't count the number of times I've sneezed in my life without causing brain damage or renal failure to anyone.
Our hospital system has designated 2 of our hospitals to take any corona patients. Census across the board is down overall with the decrease in non emergent procedures. We're prepared in case cases start really ramping up over the next couple weeks. My hospital is the last in line to keep patients if it gets crazy.
