Cold damp morning beckoned for some chili and rice

After watching Seal Team I had an overwhelming desire to cook a tri-tip on the grill. I did not know that tri-tip was even a cut of meat.
Turns out that Costco had Tri-tip so I picked some up and got into a cooking contest with my wife. She marinated and baked hers, I did the right thing and applied a dry rub and grilled it.
    I won ...
Tri tip is primarily a CA thing. Dry rub, sear 5 min a side, wrap in foil, turn down heat and let it go about 20 more minutes, proper resting time (long enough to get a knife) and enjoy!

Took some overripe bananas and made some banana bread. Would have taken pictures, but it didn't last long enough. First go at it and was pretty damn easy.
Over ripe bananas have the deepest banana flavor and sweetness IMHO, it is of no wonder to me that the bread went quickly. Sometimes I buy bananas just to let them blacken on my counter top to develop flavor prior to use. As long as there is no white mold present on the outer surface, bananas are worth keeping around, even most people would normally pitch them before they ever even turn too dark.

I always keep the over ripe one's for fruit smoothies and shakes. They keep ripening and as you stated are sweetest and have deep flavor when they're black. Made a second loaf last night. I just went in the kitchen and there's at least half left so I can have some :)

Thick slice, hot broiler, slightly too much butter on top while it crisps and I'm good to go.

    I've never offered her those.
Mine also loves carrots and green beans.
I used to work for Fresh Express salad company and that was the only lettuce she would eat. Black lab. She would even go out to the blackberry patch and get all the ripe one's as I was picking them. My wife has one of those french bulldogs and it loves carrots.
