Break Free CLP for regular cleaning. Been using that for as long as I can remember. I also use a foaming gun scrubber for the .22 and for a really dirty gun, that works really well. Shooter's Choice Quick Scrub III. I don't remember who recommended it, but I thank them.

G96 is the best smelling "clp" I've ever used. Dunno what's in it, but I like it.

I've been using Eezox recently. Best thing I like about it is it leaves a dry film that makes black finishes look really nice. The wife says it smells like the chemicals from the car wash, so she likes it.

Ballistol is great! That having been said, for my initial cleaning of the internal works of my weapons, I use non-chlorinated brake cleaner. Yes, you have to use it outdoors, it's flammable and it stinks, but boy howdy does it take the bulk of the grime off quickly. Then, at the bench I fine clean with Ballistol, the smell of which I actually like!

Regarding Ballistol, one thing I've found is that it works best when you apply it and let it soak for a while. I break down my guns and hose everything down with it including a generous amount down the bore. Then I let it sit for 30 - 60 min and let it go to work. The carbon all but wipes off. Couple passes with a patch or bore snake and then wipe the rest down with a rag and good to go. Detail clean with a nylon brush and q-tips if needed.

I use Hoppe's and let it soak for a bit in the bore if I'm trying to get copper out but I rarely do that since I'm not much of a precision shooter.

Ive been using the ZMAX bolt lube & bore cleaner the last 1.5 years & have zero complaints. The bore cleaner works well at removing carbon residue, without any soaking. I put a couple drops on a nylon brush & go to town on the bolt & upper. The bolt lube has also been flawless. Both bottles are still a little over 1/2 full after a couple dozen cleanings from range trips with 3-8 guns.

Edit... very little odor with the ZMAX.
