Well, I was on my way to unsubscribing from this, “Prayers for Lt. Col. (Ret.) Allen West” thread. Not because it had gotten ‘off topic’ - that’s normal for around here - but, because it had gotten boring. Guess I’ll hang around a bit longer now...

As a veteran of the US military, I looked into joining the TSG a few years ago. I spent a good amount of time talking to them and looking into it and decided it wasn’t for me.
    So kiss my ass sir.
    yours, vmax

    vmax,

Pardon me for pointing out that your bum looks too much like your face.

Once more you have exposed your self as a HATEFUL, arrogant, "knows nothing", who owes everyone in the TSG (& the members of of this forum) an apology for STUPIDLY "running your mouth" about that which you don't understand & that you should have kept your BIG mouth closed about.

The day that the volunteers of the State Guard come to rescue YOUR family from a major disaster, be sure & tell them that they are just the Boy Scouts for adults & not worth anything.

Fyi, I'm NOT a member of the TSG, even though I'm retired from the Army, because I'm now TOO OLD.
(TPWD doesn't care that I'm 73YO, as long as I am still able to do the volunteer service hours.)

    yours, satx

    To All

Before "running your mouth" about things that you know NOTHING factual about, it is GOOD to either stay silent or learn some actual FACTS.

Typical of those facts come from Governor Abbott: The volunteer work done by many thousands of Texans is valued at about 40 dollars per man-hour.
If we did not have the "free to our Texas government agencies" services of those volunteers, the services provided could not be done due to funding restraints OR the taxpayers would be required to pay more taxes to provide those vital services.
I salute our army of volunteers for donating their vital service project hours to our state.

    yours, satx

In other words, they didn't want you!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

    majormadmax,

You are CORRECT, as I'm NOT in the grade of COL/06 or above (who can serve after their 70th BD), am "pretty physically beat-up" & am over 70YO.

Within my current physical limitations, I do numerous volunteer service hours for TPWD each year.
(My partner, Melissa G____, & I am about to do another "small mammal study" for a nearby state-owned property to gather raw data for TAMU's biology department & AGRILIFE.)

Note to friends who've asked: My 3 broken & 4 racked ribs are (finally, Thank Heaven !!!!) about healed, after the accident & I'm "out & about " again.

    Here
After reading some of the posts here it appears that some folks don't know much about Lt. Col. Allen West. There is a little more to the story than just him being in the TSG. Here is a link to his website where you can find out more about this very distinguished and highly decorated man.

No disrespect intended, but his military career and assignments were average for his tenure, especially for a cannon cocker. If I had to guess, based on his bio, his OERs were marked center mass. If they were marked above CM, there would have been an O-6 KD assignment, which I don’t see.

There’s nothing wrong with that; my military career was much the same...average for length of service, with an above average number of combat deployments.

Full disclosure...I don’t like retired military members identifying in their former rank/grade...to me, it’s a little narcissistic.

I know about his military career and how it ended over that interrogation. I think he did the right thing there and have always supported that position.
