    Here and there
Turns out that that's not actually her or her dog. It's a picture of someone else that somehow got attached to the story (which is true).

I figured as much when I saw the photo. Nothing in the story mentioned a dog, and dog handlers don't go around on duty without their dog.

But it still doesn't change 2 facts. The sailor did her job admirably. And I want the dogs mask for when I go to those places that say I should wear a mask. I usually just walk away from those places, but if I had that mask....

“A photograph was shared on social media that allegedly showed a sailor involved in the response to this attack. We can confirm the sailor in this photo was not involved,” spokesman Lt. Sam Boyle told USNI News on Tuesday. “The personnel involved have not been identified at this point due to an ongoing investigation.”

"USNI News independently confirmed that the sailor in the photograph left the service in 2017 and that her last duty station was on the East Coast."

"One sailor was injured Thursday morning after being struck by a bullet, but a defense official said their protective vest stopped the round. The AP reported that she was able to roll over and hit the switch that raised a barrier, preventing the man from getting onto the base, the officials said."

No account says that the sailor who was shot subsequently killed Alsahli. The post does not include sources for the details.
"The shooter was killed by the [Navy Security Forces] team..."

Why do people feel they need to embellish the facts? The MA at the gate is a hero already, they don't have to make up a scenario where she also shot the terrorist. Adding such false information actually detracts from the brave individuals involved. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
