Well, I'm taking your advice. Ordering several pounds of coffee, including my and my son's favorite - French Sumatra Mandheling - pure coffee goodness! Also ordered two pounds of chocolate covered cherries and one of chocolate covered almonds. Hope they don't melt but if they do, they are still delicious.

Mornin. Way too early for me. Get your own damn coffee.
By the way, how is the little one?

It was Starbucks, but better than nothing.

He's stable and resting. Has quite a bad arrhythmia when he gets upset, which is pretty normal after this particular surgery. They have him sedated and on pain killers to keep him calm. Today his goal is to just rest. No milestones today.

He's alive and stable. And if he can get upset and stay that way, even better. He's fighting. That's a good thing.

My daughter came running downstairs yelling "The TV is on fire!"

Evidently she turned it on and the TV threw sparks and then started smoking. Went upstairs and unplugged it. There's a nice strong ozone smell. I bet a capacitor blew up. Damned TV isn't even 3 years old.

Did you ask her to help gather the smoke up so you could put it back in?

When my youngest was about 5 she came running into the den at 1:30 PM one afternoon and said: "Daddy, the lights in that room, pointing toward the living room, are pretty!" ... WTH?

Walked in to see what she was talking about to find an interior wall was on fire ...

Some idiot, years before, had put a receptacle on the wall, opposite one already installed on the other side, and used lamp cord and friction tape to splice it in. Time finally ran out ...

Good thing it was in the afternoon and not early morning ... her bedroom was on that side of the house and our's on the other side. Still shudder thinking about.

Oof! That’s scary! Coming from a family of electricians just the description you gave of the hack job is cringe worthy.

Similar situation was found at the lake house, where I am now, which was built in 1956, and found it before the clock stopped ticking on it.

First thing I did when it became mine was to change out all the old two prong outlets/receptacles, which had grounded boxes, to 3 prong. The aforementioned situation was firmly in mind and, along with a safety check, and was a big reason why I did that ... sure enough, same damn thing!

Amazing the numb-nuts who abound no matter where you go ...
