The true Texas Yellowjacket builds its nests in the ground. The yellow wasps we see building nests under eaves are called Paper wasps, but are understandably confused with Yellowjackets.
Hair spray and a Bic lighter
OUUUCHHHHHHHHHHH...Yeah thats great til the wind blows the lighter out and the hair spray makes them swarm your ass. It was WD40 but ask me how I know...
You can get 12 cans of wasp spray on Amazon for $70, this is the one that works best. Occasionally I set off bug bombs in the shop when the wasps get too bad, works for 2-3 months.

Gotta disagree with you there. Raid is effective, but Hot Shot works better and Black Flag (if you can find it) is the best - it'll kill them instantly if you hit them while they're flying, and it'll wipe a nest out with no problem. Never buy anything less than Raid, though.
Spectracide is about like buying the little bastards a couple of beers. They get a little tipsy, then they want to fight you. Avoid that brand. Ask me now I know...
That's what I used to use. But, only for one at a time.Hair spray and a Bic lighter
I knew an old man who was one of those hardscrabble dgaf types. If he spotted a nest he could reach, he'd just grab it barehanded and squeeze. "A couple got me, but i got a bunch of them" he'd say. Throw the icky mess on the ground, wipe his hand off on his coveralls and go on about his business.
He was one of a kind.
