If it was really about the problems that black Americans are facing people wouldn’t be destroying businesses.

There are two very different groups of people in all of this. One, the groups of protesters, peacefully marching, wanting justice. Then the second groups, who are using the first groups as cover for causing disruption, chaos, da,aged property and violence.

Well it was the 70s but one story, I'll try to keep it short: showed up at a club in Texas City with a friend, half a beer in a fight broke out. Not wanting to be involved went outside and sat/leaned against the hood of friends car to smoke. Police showed up went inside, predictably no one saw anything.

Police came out looked at me and said what are you doing. Said didn't want anything to do with that fight smoking and waiting for it to calm down in there. Police says well you need to go home. I said what? I'm not doing anything I'm all alone in a parking lot leaning on friends car smoking. Police said you didn't hear me right boy I told you to go home! Said I'm not intoxicated, not doing anything at all, I don't understand.

Finished my smoke got up and started to go back into club to get my friend. Police grabbed me threw me down in the gravel parking lot kneeled on my neck and twisted my arms up behind my back. I struggled because of the pain and couldn't breathe. They screamed stop resisting! I said I'm not you're killing me!

Cuffed so tight my hands were turning blue, lifted by my wrists nearly dislocating my shoulders. Ride to jail, stayed overnight. Had a lot of cash and bailed myself out in the morning.

Came back to court because I was innocent. Charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. They dropped intoxication because I wasn't and because they adminstered no test. Kangaroo court still fined me for the other two charges despite no description of this 'disorderly conduct'.

Have a few more stories not a lot because I wasn't a troublemaker but similar experience.

Some will say why didn't you just go home? Because I did nothing and I'd have had to go back in the club to get my friend to do that, I rode with him.

No I wasn't a smartass, said sir and please. No I didn't ignore them or approach them. To this day I have no idea why except I didn't step and fetch to their tune.

LE agencies are a part of the executive branch, and as such are the responsibility of the elected officials. Over the last week, those elected officials have passed the buck and gone out of their way to explain the problem is that all the citizens are racist and therefore we are the problem.

The failure of state and local elected executive branch officials to accept responsibility and accountability for the actions of the very agencies they’re charged with being at the top of the chain of command is an abomination to the founders and the tenth amendment.

Agree. All I meant is police training (in my experience) is overwhelming force. Obey orders (no matter how inane) or swift violence and go to jail. I feel our police have moved to militarized and away from protect & serve.

I think our leaders fostering racism and division for their benefit and the aforementioned militarization has slowly escalated to where we are now.

We need to reject the rhetoric of racism and inequality of opportunity, train our police to de-escalate and engage in constructive dialog and educate the public to the truth.

Very similar experience for me as well about twenty something years ago.

Charged with drunk and disorderly, and public intoxication. Was kept in the drunk tank at the SO for three days before seeing the local judge who came around to set bail. (At no time during those three days was I allowed to make a phone call, or was I ever read my rights!) The local judge that was to set bond on me, happened to be a good friend of my step-mother. So I asked her if I could contact my attorney, since I had no legal understanding of what was going on. She said that wouldn't be necessary since the charges were just misdemeanors and the bond was essentially just paying the fines. Hmmm...So I asked her what about sitting in the drunk tank for the last three days with no phone call and not having my rights explained to me. She looked at me like I was from a different planet. She asked me to explain the sequence of events to her from the time I was "arrested" to which I did.

Long story short. My attorney filed an official complaint. The sheriff got his ass reamed royally by the judge. A deputy and a jailer got fired. All charges were dropped, and I got a very insincere apology from the sheriff for the actions of his employees. My two broken fingers never did heal correctly and making a fist with that hand to this day is difficult. At no point did they offer any medical treatment for my fingers while I was in "custody", and when the judge looked at my two very swollen fingers on my left hand, she was very, very pissed.

Granted, I was lucky, since the lady judge was a good friend of my step-mother, and she was a very fair judge, and good person, (and I did vote for her twice when she ran for judge.) but I had to wonder how many times had this happened before and to people who didn't know a judge to help them out?

Many of my viewpoints and opinions on LE officers and the general community of LE changed after that. And not necessarily for the good either. I still have friends and family in LE, and I try to judge them as individuals rather than just lumping them into a generalized group, but to be honest, it it hard sometimes. I have seen a huge change in LE attitudes among officers over the years. They do seem to be trying to become more militarized and less about protecting and defending our communities.

There is no ‘need’ for any government except the city of Minneapolis, they are essentially negotiating with terrorists.

If The demanders were smart, they’d be attacking McManus who was the Chief there in 2004-6 and had opportunity to discipline or fire Chauvin. I’d be demanding to El Jefe that there’s blood on McManus’ hands and he has to go.

- You will probably sleep in your own bed
- You will not die and become a national martyr.
-You will avoid pissing off a police officer, who is only human, and subject to the prejudices that you may have. But must follow the rules made by others the they may not agree with.
- It doubtful that you are the only person that has disobeyed his requests, which is very frustrating in itself. The officers are trying to keep many people safe, are always greatly outnumbered, and just want to make it through the shift to go home to family.

Wow. So you are asserting that whatever an officer says to do, a person should comply with his request/order?

So might it be safe to assume you would enjoy having a police state?

YOU might be okay with that, but many of us aren't. This is exactly why we are having the many problems with LE as of currently.

if he is requesting that you do something, you have already lost the encounter. Take your loss and use better tactics next time.

So the last time I got stopped, was for a "faulty" LP lamp on my truck, and when I walked back there it was miraculously working all of a sudden? Hmmm.....okay, sure whatever you say.

About raising the degree (from the sign in the pic) It’s very hard to prove premeditated that’s why the cop isn’t charged with first degree. They go for first degree and he walks and we have more riots. They went with third degree cause they can get a conviction at third degree. Looks like no matter what happens there’s gonna be more riots to riot cause the crowd didn’t agree with the outcome cause they live in a fantasy world.
