This is exactly where this is headed. Government always does a test run of "new" powers, to see what the serfs will tolerate before they start using that power regularly.

"Just wear the fucking mask" say some - "what does it hurt to wear a mask" "I'm a nurse and I have to wear one eight hours a day" "but Fauci says wear a mask now" "it won't kill you to wear a mask" - none of the people spewing this shit get it. NO single elected official has the authority to create law or hand out edicts to the public that are not backed by written, properly codified law. It is an abuse of power and authority, and if left unchecked will be just another small step down the long, painful death march of the Republic.

IF a law stating one MUST wear a mask is to be had - there are legislatures to be convened in special sessions that can then craft appropriate laws that then may be signed into law by the various governors. Those laws must still be in compliance with the state and federal Constitutions.

Here are some examples of "reasonable" actions if one takes them voluntarily, but amount to drastic abuses of executive authority when "ordered" by any executive official:

    - wear a mask
    - vaccinate yourself and your children
    - do not gather with people outside your home
    - submit to regular medical examination
    - wear / don't wear specific clothing items

Each one of those things individually, and situationally, may make sense if you make the educated, reasoned decision to do so. But when some dictatorial power hungry turd, regardless of political affiliation, decides that you WILL do something - no, that's no bueno and flies against our Constitution.

Wear a mask = put on this arm band
Vaccinate yourself and your children = take this experimental shot
Do not father with people outside your home = you may not protest or freely associate with others
Wear / Don't wear specific clothing = This brown shirt is OK, but if you wear that red hat we're going to jail you or beat you.

You may think these are a stretch, but they're not. We're already seeing morality policing happening in this country. Two cops in Atlanta are facing serious prison time for a legal use of force, because the angry mob and a political hack of a DA don't give a damn about circumstance. We're seeing a married couple in St Louis facing criminal charges for defending themselves against a mob of hundreds of people who broke into their private community and started threatening them, because an angry mob demands it. We're seeing mayors, county executives, governors and other government officials taking sides - often siding with the extreme left - in the escalating civil war we're embroiled in. They've allowed "autonomous zones" and "occupied zones" to be established, which has directly lead to the deaths, assaults, rapes, and extortion of other Americans. Allowing any abuse to go without complaint just makes it easier for those who WILL come for you. So while it may well seem "reasonable" to just go-along with such nonsense, its not, because that's just giving in and making it that much easier for them to do it next time.

The excuses to abuse you will get sillier until they just drop the facade and openly attack and abuse you without excuse.

^^ Someone gets it. "Progress" doesnt stop once in motion. These are all stepping stones to living in a communist shithole

I come here to learn and research on future purchases, techniques, etc. it is becoming increasingly difficult to remain silent any longer.

This is the best post I have come across anywhere on the interwebs.

I am not and will not ever wear a mask.

Test #s are irrelevant, except in the context of hospitalization rate...which is being skewed, and fatality rate, skewed as well, but...if the ratio(s) drop(s), that’s actually a good thing.

Some of the comments here represent the real issue; it is not about the masks or the closures, it is about the violation of the basic governing principles of how laws and enforcement guidelines are created and implemented. Local officials, up to and including the governor, have no right to implement new law with accompanying fines and imprisonment. The health excuse is being used in an effort to establish precedent for local officials to follow the example of the Presidential Executive Orders in circumstances for which they were never meant.

We have been at this Covid thing for 6 months now, plenty of time for the legislature to convene and consider passing legislation to deal with the spread of the virus. There is absolutely no justification for Country Judges, Mayors, City Councils or the Governor to create sweeping laws with accompanying penalties. Mark my words, in the wake of this, every petty elected official will see themselves having the power to create laws as they see fit and dole out punishment to those who do not obey.

People need to wake up and forget about Covid, the masks and CNN; this is about how our government is supposed to function.

    Agreed.
When this bull started, it was all an unknown. A temporary order to handle an EMERGENCY was probably the right thing to do. This has gone on way longer than that. A special session of the legislature should have been called long ago to deal with it.

As a side note, went to a late lunch today here in Tyler at a nicer restaurant. About half of the people were wearing masks, half were not; UPS driver came is with his packages and no mask. We walked in the door, told the hostess we were a party of four and removed our masks on the way to the table. Pretty much business as usual although I suspect that the Karen type retail stores are going to go all Gestapo on the masks but that remains to be seen.

I really thought I saw a thread where Comrade Abbott mandated wearing masks and wanted to post this there but I can't seem to find it.

With that being said, we went to town today to pick up a few things.

Home Depot did not enforce mask requirement. Most folks were not wearing masks. I would say less than 20%.
Harbor Freight not enforcing mask requirement. I would say less than 5% folk actually wearing masks.

I was quite happy. I dipped into the rum a little early today so the wife was playing chauffeur. I refuse to wear a mask anywhere so she was going to go in to get the things we need if I got turned away. Happy to say, we shopped together, unmasked.

    Ain’t wearing one. Ever.
    EO was passed.
As of noon today, every country with more than 20 CV19 cases must wear a mask.

Went to sherman today to get pizza after being at bonham lake for most of the afternoon. Didnt see too many people with masks on. My wife and I arent wearing masks ever so we were waiting for someone to say something

One positive thing to come of all this kung flu BS: The next meet should be a good one with large attendance. I think more people will want to come out once all this nonsense is over with
