In high school I was in VICA and we had to fill out a report every week on our jobs. I referred to my job as a “Petroleum Transfer Engineer”

I worked at a gas station (when gas stations actually pumped gas, washed windshields, check oil, water, air, ect.

    ...and why not?

Every category of everything is slathered with pc/bs of one kind or another.

If you were to label a janitor as a...janitor, it may hurtttttt some janitors feewings, so some sorta bs label to make 'janitor' sound uplifting beyond what it is, is what's on order as simple, down to earth job descriptions are now the field on which bs 'artists' play.

In high school building trades built a house each year. Through the horticulture class I was in I got the job of maintaining the yard. After all I won the landscape design & installed the landscaping. They paid with me with a township High School check. That I felt made me staff. Pissed off lots of teachers that year parking in their lot. When ever I got called on it the pay stubs came out & STFU was all I asked of them.

The people who make a proper Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sub are Sandwich Artists. Bringing all of the ingredients together, cooked just right at exactly the right time, is art. Just like any other proper chef. Not to mention, a proper Philly Cheesesteak requires an ingredient that most "cheesesteak subs" lack. Jersey Mike's is but a pale substitute.

A hand made, wood fired brick oven, baked pizza is in the same category in my book. Rancho Pizzeria in Coleman, has an artist.

Most of them use computers and programs to run accounting these days. Some math, and more knowledge of computers is all that's needed.

When is the last time you did any actual accounting?

It's...a lot...more involved than that. The amount of required knowledge around practices and standards and what to do when numbers don't tie is massive.

Just because they don't keep paper books anymore doesn't mean the job is by any means easy.

As a general statement, demeaning/minimizing other professions and those doing an honest day's work is pretty shitty IMO.

I try not to eat fast food, and when I do I try to eat as healthy as I can. Subway sandwiches with lean meats ,lots of vegetables and no condiments seems to fit the bill for the rare occasion.
This evening I stopped in the local Subway sandwich shop. The girl behind the plexiglass and the mask with all the piercings and tattoos, says, "Welcome to Subway, I'll be your sandwich artist this evening!"
Sure enough, I noticed several pieces of signage indicating you should notify your "Sandwich Artist" should you need a refill on a drink, etc.
WTH? I know this current crop of sandwich-assemblers grew up in an era where everybody got a trophy, but "Sandwich Artist"?
The world has gone totally, effing insane.
Like walmart. They made a few more people mid level "managers" and fired the rest after putting in self checkouts.

How's all those 15 dollar an hour jobs working out. What 15 dollar an hour jobs you ask? The self checkouts and the robot they have cleaning the floors and scanning outs. Those 2 robots got rid of half a dozen jobs and or the payroll hours spent by having a human so them.
