Haven’t worked much in security in years, but do some personal protection work from time to time as well as some uniform work ( mostly events)as a favor to a couple of friends who own security companies I used to work for full time.

Met @TreyG-20 at GT Distributors to pick up something for @EZ-E today and stepped in to see if they had anything on the shelf. Ammo restrictions are 200 rounds of training ammo per month and 100 rounds of duty/defense ammo per month. To buy the Hornady TAP/Critical Duty ammo you have to be security/ LE / military and show proof.
.30 a round for 124 Federal range ammo is a little high, but not retarded high , so I grabbed 4 boxes.
.54 a round for Hornady Critical Duty is cheap so I showed my card and grabbed 100 rounds of that.
Does not make @TexMex247 ammo prices seem so outrageous anymore does it. ( for all of y’all that dogged on him for his prices;) )

No, I did not especially need it, but it will get shot in pretty short order and it is always good to add more FU ammo to the stash.
And yes, that is a big igloo pattern tablecloth :)

So, is this not similar to the stuff that eventually gets sold to civilians later on, and usually at a better price, 50rd box vs 20rd box?

50 round box. $27. The 20 round boxes generally are $20-25 per box.
The smaller boxes sold to the non LE market are the rounds that did not pass the ultra tight quality control that is required for department issue duty ammo. Does not mean it is less effective, just had a blemish, .05 grains off weight, ding in bullet, etc.

I have rarely seen the non LE packaged duty/defense ammo at much less than $1 per round. Usually significantly more.

Just less expensive by 50% and supposedly better quality

Oh, I read it backwards, I'm talking about 50rd boxes for 20rd prices.
Like these "for law enforcement" +p, $25 for 50 rd boxes.

ETA: Just realized that it doesn't show these are +p.
