We watch very little TV and no news channels. I turned off the news radio, too. In the mean time, I’ve been doing more reloading, more flying, and most all day every weekend when I’m not flying is spent outdoors at a river or lake.

I still shoot almost every week, too.

I control when, where, and how I let information into my world. I read one paper, the Wall Street Journal. The only local stuff I used to watch was weather, but even that shit has been co-opted, so I pull my own weather from NOAA NWS and a couple aviation apps.

It seems like it’s hard to avoid news of stupid politicians saying and doing stupid stuff. With the coronavirus affecting a lot of our usual recreational activities, what do you do to relax and clear your mind of all that nonsense?
Voodoo Dolls. Lots and lots of voodoo Dolls. And Guillotines. Voodoo Dolls on guillotines. I love it when the little doll heads roll across the table.

As to a moratorium on news from all sources.

    That's what I'm doing.

Of late, I can't watch Tucker Carlson - one my favorite guys on TV and can no longer tolerate "The Five" because even Greg Gutfeld has nothing but doom and gloom to say, (I miss his humor -he's been bummed since rioters destroyed his neighborhood) and arrrrgggh, what that commie, lying, juan williams has to say...ugh!

With the plague/blammers/anti-fuks and how rotten commies like pelosie and what her ilk is doing to the country ...it's far too depressing to absorb.

So, no news is good news.

Now to swing in the hammock on the back porch while chugging down some elixir of grape....oh yeah, peace is spreading out all over the valley, ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I stay up till 3am then sleep till noon. By then it's hammering outside. I'm clearing cedar, a little bit at a time using a battery powered chainsaw. About the time the battery goes dead I'm ready to take a break. A few hours in the heat of the day then a few hours around dusk.

Before COVID I worked in an office. I've been off "work" since 8 May so inventing physical stuff to keep me busy has been a welcome change....in more ways than one.

I knew within the first 15 minutes after being deemed "non-essential" that I was NOT going to waste time watching TV.

I won't go near a scale but I can tell that everything is fitting looser. Every day my endurance gets better and my appetite has dropped off too. Dropping some weight has made the arthritis in my hips and knees almost melt away.

Now I hate to even go to town for groceries.
Back when I was being "non-essential" I was commuting a total of 180 miles a day to San Antonio and home. Three hours a day spent looking through the windshield and dodging idiots on I-10.

This "non-essential" classification ain't bad at all. As a matter of fact, it's like 6 Saturdays and a Sunday every week. The last time I had this sort of freedom was at the start of summer vacation in the 8th grade. After 50 years in the harness....well, I guess you could say that I'm guilt free.

We just bought our first home. I’ll be busy working hard to pay for it, but it’s got a pool and hot tub so that’s going to be good for relaxing. Husband takes his playlist creating job really seriously, so we jam some good music, out there, too. As long as we can get out to get chlorine tablets, we have a Corona proof recreation/ relaxation option.

I am learning about decorating the inside of the home, too. So that’s fun. I like the “mid century modern” style.

Okay can you please help with this? I need to get weather news without getting sucked into covid 19 warnings. Thanks

I eat a lot of deep fried foods which gets my hemorrhoids going something fierce. Once they are acting up, nothing else matters besides that next fix of Preparation H

Following up. Desktop weather from weather.gov or bookmark/save to homescreen mobile.weather.gov. This will get you 99% of what your local wx forecaster provides, down to a zipcode, with radar and discussion. The local news weather briefers use all the same data as weather.gov, they just add their own commentary and wrap it up in a pretty package for you to look at.

My go to general wx app is MyRadar, followed by WTForecast for some humor. MyRadar can be configured to give you alerts as soon as watches or warnings are issued.

For a aviation wx, I use awc.weather.gov, weatherspork app, a d the built in wx briefing functions within my electronic flight bag.
