Keeping warm next to a lead furnace and casting a pile of big, fat, .45 wadcutters:

Today I put my house back together. Tile guys are done, now I get my life back to normal.

    Slab leaks blow.

We used to hoe cotton fields.
At this point, I don't know how anyone lived through it.
    Chopping cotton...man !
I spent every summer on Grandfather’s farm and ranch in Frio county.
I was free labor, it was hot gritty work.
Great memories put man was it hard work.

We got up at 5:30 AM, started work in the yard at 6:30 AM, quit at 9:15 AM.

While I (swbo can't) can tolerate the brutal heat of midday for a couple of hours, it's a whole lot easier to get up kinda early and quit early.

No longer can I get up early and work in the heat all day into dusk.

Once back in the house, shower, eat and work on cleaning the house for awhile, then clean at least one gun.

No news intake, but some booze intake for what ails me...like blammers, anti-fuks and general all around loathsome commies bent on the destruction of normal people.

Exactly. I spent way too many hours with a hoe in a cotton field when I was young. Maybe it’s why I hate the heat so much nowadays.

I remember the summer of 80 I had a hay truck. You may remember that summer had almost 50 days of 100 degree plus temps in a row. We were in the field at 6am, and ran until 1pm. Cooled off at the river, then started up again a 6pm and worked until 1-2am. It worked out great except for the sleeping thing. One day a week we would have a break and I would sleep about 14 hours that day.

    Dee,

    Hold on!

    No participation trophy?

    No safe space?

    No microaggressions?

No living off Mom & Dad into middle age without hitting a lick of work or doing your own laundry, food prep, or even room cleaning all while complaining of white privilege while being white?

    You got a raw deal.

    In the woods...
This morning I mowed about 2 acres. Then, I piddled at organizing the patio and storeroom. I threw the heating element in my redneck tub/trough about an hour ago (it gets chilly overnight because its on the patio). I'll be in the water with a glass of tea in just a few minutes!

Saturday was be on the lakeshore under the oaks with portable canopy by 9a. We kayaked for about an hour and a half, then cooled off in the water and plopped ourselves in our chairs under the shade for a couple hours drinking water and catching up on our reading. Packed up and headed home at about 2p. Unpacked, showered and taking a nap by 3p.
