It can be. Depends on what you want. I wanted a dedicated 9mm Glock magazine compatible lower so I could share my Glock mags I already have, and the pistols to match. I also wanted a shorter barrel with 1/2x28 threads for my current silencer. Required a barrel change for that. Fostech binary trigger required a different bolt carrier group, so had to upgrade that as well. Slippery slope to upgrade things!
Awe damn... didn't even consider any of that...

I’m really happy with my 9mm SBR. Subsonic 9mm vs. 300 blackout are both going to give you shitty ballistics and “power”, but 9mm is a bunch cheaper to buy and I have a bunch of 9mm stuff anyways.

Also, I have a 5” barrel, and you really shouldn’t do that in a rifle cartridge.

I’d trend towards a .223/5.56 for a more serious rifle though. And I’d strongly consider getting a tax stamp and making an SBR. A proper stock is just easier to shoot.

What's SBR? Like a suppressor license?

    Yes. A short barreled rifle.

Just an observation, and everyone has their own thoughts, but the 300 blackout pistol I have (8.5" barrel) sure does make quick work of 200# hog. Not sure how a 9mm would do.

The cost to get it SBR with the government is very high due to having to get a tax stamp and background check for it. Not required for a pistol. Only difference is the stock/brace. Neither an AR15 pistol/rifle or a 9mm will be hard for anyone to shoot. Almost no recoil on either one. Blast/concussion may be a huge difference though. 5" barrel was to keep it short and keep the silencer combo compact.

I won't be using it for hog hunting though. I have much better weapons for that.

How expensive is it to reduce blast/ concussion?

Supersonic, 300 BO is a rifle cartridge. Subsonic, 300 BO is a .308“ pistol round. 9mm is a lot cheaper than 300 BO.

Rifles rounds work better than pistol rounds to kill things. I’ll take a .223 over a 300 BO to kill things, but that is my opinion. They are cheaper. Probably the biggest benefit of 300BO over .223 is 300BO does better in shorter barrels. (I Personally wouldn’t use a .223 in anything shorter than an 11ish inch barrel).

That depends on what you have and what you want to do. On my AR15 pistol 10.5" barrel it has a small can on it in place of the flash suppressor. It directs all the blast down range. Still want to be directly behind it when firing. Full power rifle rounds still make a lot of noise even when silenced. A silencer will run you $200 tax stamp and a background check plus the cost of the silencer $600 and up and about a year long wait.

The 9mm is cheap and the heavy 147 grain bullet is subsonic and pretty quiet when silenced. I bought adapters to fit my .45 acp as well. Those are also subsonic and pretty quiet. During normal times I could find 9mm for .16 or even .14 a round. 9mm seems to be the .22 of the center fire ammo. That is when you buy 4 cases at a time.

Then build your pistol and be done with it.
Did u NOT read the very 1st thing i posted here, the one describing that i don't know shit about what I'm doin? I'm about to drop $800-$1,000 on something I know next to nothing about other than what I've gathered from research, hence all the questions. I do apologize however if this is irritating to u but I seriously doubt anyone forced u to click on the topic
