I use an Excel spreadsheet with tabs for each caliber, with serial number, number of mags, Maintenance and mods, and running total of ammo purchased and expended and number of rounds through each firearm. I have expanded it over the last few years with tabs for scopes/sights, flashlights, and also air guns.

I have a word document with firearm, caliber, and and an estimate on how much I paid for it. At one point I tried to keep track of current value, but it was too hard so I stuck with purchase estimate.

Also instructions on several trusted persons to liquidate my collection, should something happen to me.

I don’t track ammo, other than to visually see when the stock lowers and I need to re-up.

I have several copies of firearms inventory. I use to put them also on a flash drive, but haven't done that in years.
The only inventory I keep of ammo is what is in the load data books I keep for reloading. It doesn't account for factory ammo, rimfire or shotgun ammo though.

Single Excel spreadsheet on my mobile device, including guns, magazines, and ammo and appropriate data for each.

In addition to having firearm and ammo inventory, I keep a tab on the spreadsheet for sold firearms. Just copy & paste from current inventory and add date sold, amount and whatever information I have on the buyer.

Were I to keep a record it would be in code, any firearms I may or may not possess would not be stored together.

I would decline to potentially handicap or incriminate myself with the future of the 2nd Amendment uncertain.

Postings regarding firearms on this or related forums may simply be flights of imagination or braggadocio.

I have a "few" guns in my safe and a rack of ammo to feed the habit.

I put together an excel spread sheet that documents:
    brand/model/caliber
    serial number
    purchase date and where
    new/used
    purchase price
    round count
    accessories
    photos

There are tabs for inherited, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, long guns and other (black powder as an example)
Also have a tab dedicated to ammo inventory.

Decided to do this years ago for insurance purposes.

Do any of you knuckledraggers do this?
I'll let you know when I'm rich enough that kicking off my shoes to help count is no longer adequate.

Anyone know what the tax day Powerball jackpot is?

A friend of mine had this to say a few years ago, back when Obama was in office. People were discussing whether to bury or to hide their guns. His simple reply still rings true to me. "If it's time to be burying your guns, might be time to be digging them up instead."
