    Easy work. Ten minutes.

    Except for (1) I want to keep the current barrel intact and not have to remove the front site, (2) I don't have the tools to perform the job, and (3) I don't want to deal with a gunsmith. :)

    Though I am not sold on the quality of Ruger's standard 10/22 barrels, thank you for the recommendation....I have a couple of resources now and will do some shopping.

    Threaded with standard profile is hard to come by. For highly accurate stock barrels I would go with shilen or lilja. For close to stock profile and threaded I would take a look at zimmerman arms barrels. Or you could PM Texmex about this project, I have heard that he's put together some nice 10-22s!
