HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police say an 11-year-old boy died after
being shot in the head in what appears to have been an accident at
    his home.

The name of the victim was not immediately released Thursday.

Detective J.T. Barringer says police believe the boy and two
siblings, ages 14 and 10, were looking for a phone in a bedroom
Wednesday night when a backpack that contained a pistol was moved.

The gun went off. Police say the victim was dead at the scene.

Barringer says the gun apparently belonged to the boy's mother.

    Prosecutors will review the case.

Yeah, I saw this story on the 7am news this morning. Now, first of all, why was the gun in a backpack, and not somewhere safe. My next question is how does a gun go off from you picking up a backpack? I mean did they feel or see the outline of the gun in the bacg and pick the bag up by the gun or what?
