1911 Barrel bushing

I've got a new Springfield 1911 Mil-spec that is dark grey parkerized. The barrel bushing is stainless though and I hate the two-tone contrast.

I'd like to keep this bushing as it is well fitted, but want to make it match the slide.

Can this part be duracoated? Would I have to avoid treating the inside of the bushing?

you can duracoat it, or just order the right color, they come in ss, black and blue, then fit the spur to the slide, and the inside to your barrel. done deal.

doesnt take but about 20-30 mins to get a bushing fitted, hour if you are a newb to fitting.

How about bluing the one he's got? Does blue work well on SS?

Nope, nor does parkerizing. The part can be Duracoated, but unless you're already duracoating something, its too much trouble in my opinion. The amount of prep involved in SS would take just about as long to do as the fitting of a new part. I'd go with High-Caps suggestion, buy the right color and fit it.

Thats good to know. I never really tried bluing SS before. I have had some old guns refinished before. Im kinda liking the armor coatings. The Camo look fits me just fine.

I've got a spare blue bushing that I'd be willing to get rid of if you want to see if it will work.

bluing doesn't "soak" well into the SS, that is why ALL SS you see is either satin/brushed/blasted, polished, or coated(painted) 9 times outta 10 - black

I know what stainless is for. I was told by a local gunshop that all Kimbers were SS. I have seen some blued kimbers before. I just thought you could blue the stuff. Im thinking I need to update myself on the Kimber materials.
