Just bought a PT 1911, of course the first thing I wanted to do was take it apart and wipe it down. And see how it works. I've always had S&W semi's this is my first 1911.
Putting it back together was a treat. I had no idea where stuff went. Launched the recoil spring into the ceiling fan. It is back together and seems to function. The instructions were real basic.
I was wondering if y'all could recommend some 1911 sites that might have some more detailed information? I'd really like some step by step assembly instructions. Any help is appreciated.

Congrats, on your 1911, but as always , WERE ARE THE PICS? I have found this sight, The M1911 Pistols Organization Forums Site to be real informative and helpful.
If you go to their home page there is alot of information, they even have animation to show you most everything on that pistol.. Hope you enjoy your 1911.

I agree with Dave. This is considered the # 1 site.

I have returned from the range. Put 200 rounds through my new PT1911.
Absolutely no issues whatsoever. No failures, zip nada zero!
The rounds were half new half range reloads, all fmj.
At 10 yards the point of aim was the point of impact.
I have never been happier with an out of the box gun.
There is nothing I don't like about the Taurus PT 1911.

Be sure to double check that spring for any bend in it. That would make a weak point to a future break. Was at a gun range once, this guy was having all kinds of problems. Took it to the smith at range who took it apart and the spring came out in 2 pieces. Just an FYI.
