Most important of all, he quit saying clip and started saying mag!

Remoil is good stuff.
On a carry piece I've used Remington Dri Lube only for years. Also good stuff.

A properly set up 1911 should not require sling shotting.

No it shouldn't however sling shoting is the preferred way since using the slide stop to release the slide will eventually round the lock open notch and/or the slide stop resulting in failure to lock open.

But some do it one way some do it another. For most shooters, they won't shoot it enough for it to matter.
