Agree with others. Not likely you'll be able to carry a Gov't model without a belt. A good belt makes it work. An inexpensive holster might work. A cheap belt won't.

You can carry a full-size 1911 without a belt...as long as you don't have much body hair. It does require a certain amount of duct tape...

Which level of retention? A holster with a thumb break is a retention holster (Level 1), and obviously can be had in leather.

Btw, that "Workin' Man" rig is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Only cheaper. LOL! I know, I know, you get what you pay for and all that. But 200 bucks for a new holster and belt (after tax and/or shipping) just ain't happening right now.
Get the holster now and use a regular belt until you can spring for a proper gunbelt.

I'm in a similar situation - the South African-made gunbelt I've had since the late 80's is top quality and has served me well - but it's become "unstiff" through decades of service on the range and off, so it's time to get a new one.

Well, not necessarily "leather only", but enough leather to qualify as a "leather holster". Not a fan of having a piece of plastic hanging on my belt as a holster, y'know?
