What is going on?I searched everywhere yesterday for a 1911 and could not find anything other than Taurus models.I lucked out today and was at the shop when one SA 1911 came in.I immediately bought it. I am just wondering if guns are hard to find in your towns.

I hate myself, I sold an auto-ordinance 10mm 1911 (style) for $300 a year ago. Not that I would try to price gauge with it now, but it was my only 1911 and and now It doesnt look like I'll be getting another one anytime soon.

I live in Idaho, and the Colt 1911's are extremely hard to find. The Colt Government 1911 I have, I purchased from GunGenie about a year ago for $740. Its an excellent pistol, haven't had a single issue with it. Other models, mainly the Kimber (very sought after pistol in my area) are very hard to find, and when you do find them they have an enormous price tag on them anywhere from $1100-2400. Outrageous prices IMO.

The Conroe show had many 1911's available. Everything from the real deal Colt's all the way down to Rock Islands. Many, many Kimbers and even some Dan Wessons and Sig GSRs. However, around here there aren't many available but taurus' and milspecs.

I sell/trade my tuppeware guns, but my 1911', S&W 1911PD and my Kimber CDP Ultra II are like my kids. I did sell my SA EMP last year and have regretted it ever since.

Was just at my local gunshop in Cedar Park (on my neverending search for ammo) and they had 8-10 1911s in the case, a few used, several new ... and there must be a gunshow in El Paso; there are literally dozens at the Austin show every time I go, and at decent prices ...

They don't sell guns through the internet company. Actually they run the retail store and internet company as two completely separate business. It makes some people mad because they see an item on the web, then go to the retail store only to find the price is different.

Anyway, let me suggest Sporting Arms company in Lewisville. They have just about any gun you could want including Wilsons, listed on their web site. They don't have them all in stock, but will order for you and have in a day or two. Great people too. You can google the website.

    1911s hard to find?

    Really? Are you in Texas?

You can't swing a dead cat in Houston an not hit a 1911 in just about any gunstore.

Its kind of like saying "I cannot find a pickup truck in Texas" nearly impossible.

    LOL

    1911

I work at bass pro in grapevine, and we have alot of different brands in 1911. I know that the retail mark up can be kind high there, but if you want it you'll pay for it.
