Have you fellas looked into the Standard offerings. Fit/finish/reliability are on par with any DW I have ran/fondeled.

    I have 2 of them.
I put the pimp grips on this one. The pics do not show how stellar the Bluing really is.

The High Nickel finish is amazing. The gun is a jewel right out of the box. I put these grips on it.

OK...…..I took this one down to the frame. Pics posted earlier in this thread.
    Frame was pretty rusty.
    Not now.

Did a lot more work to this yesterday.
End result....I am good with it. It locks into battery like a beast. Might need to address this. \
After a couple hundred rounds I will address any remaining issues and if it pans out this will go in my holster.
C&S ignition controls. Slide is from an SA loaded with a lot of show off machine work on it.

You can see the relief cut along the base of the slide and the ball cut at the transition at the top of the flat.
That's my Logo. Assume The Position.

I did not do as much blending on this one.

Saw the almost perfect plate today: JJB*1911. Thus inspired, I inquired whether I could get JMB*1911 for my ride, but since that's a valid random combo it's not available as custom plate. Wah.

I’ll start off by saying, I am in no way ready to take on a 1911 build from scratch. But I was wondering if anyone on here has done either an 80% kit or taken different parts and put one together, hand fitting as you go. I really love the full size 1911’s, and I would love to have a somewhat custom built one without spending $2K plus.
