    I tried and tried to quit smoking. Couldn't do it. Got irritated one day when the price went up again. I quit buying the darn things. Between my ears there lives a smoker. That guy no longer gets access to my wallet. The other guy gets a new BBQ gun at the end of the year. Maybe two.

    In my short time in the Navy, I don't remember any more folks smoking than civilians.
    I didn't smoke until a few years later.
    Smoked for about 20 years.
    I wanted to quit many times.
    The last time I tried to quit, I went to CVS to buy patches. The damn patches cost more than a carton of smokes.
    I became angry, went home and started drinking.
    Started early again the next day.
    I haven't smoked since.
    Two days away from cigarettes was enough to stop the chemical dependency.
