Stage 5 started with a M203 shot near two larue targets.
A miss requried you to engage the larue targets with your rifle.
The 2nd part was 4 rifle targets upstairs followed by a run into the house and engagement of 12 pistol targets
Made it back from the Ft. Benning 3 Gun. Learned a few good lessons.
1. The ACOG with offset Irons worked as planned.
2. The Benelli worked well with one major hiccup that contributed to my DQ.
3. The Pelican Cube worked to keep all the 3 gun gear organized and in one place.
4. The Mark Otto Shell caddies made operating hte shotgun much easier.
5. The cold weather gear and chemical hand warmer packets made life comfortable on Sunday.
6. Trip's advice to go with the ASOLO lightweight boots made the fancy footwork easier.
7. The best money spent was for the Columbia Lhotse Jacket, REI long underwear, mittens and handwarmers since someone left the refridgerator door open on Sunday!
8. having the advice and counsel of the #23 shooter in the competition discussing the stages with you as you shot the match was an education in and of itself. Thanks Jason for the help and advice.
On the DQ: All because I thought the benelli was unloaded when the bolt locked back and didn't put the safety on when I put the shotgun in the barrel.
I always put the safety on, but thought I had gamed the game on that stage and it gamed me!
The sad fact is that when I shoot my shotgun I ususally am cussing at my fumble fingers while keeping it fed!
