2013 Open Carry Bills

    Also a side note for those new to Texas...the Texas legislature only meets every two years and has a very short window to pass legislation.

    This keeps them from screwing it up as fast as the Feds and makes sure only the more important bills are introduced - like a budget.

    There are a lot of reasons why a bill stalls in committee. Certainly a "lip service" intent is one of them. But there are lots of other reasons that may or may not be nefarious, and may well be out of the sponsor's control. Without having insider information, you'll likely never know for sure. But that's true of pretty much all legislation, not just gun related matters.

    Lawmaking is a nasty business.
