    San Antonio!
I’ve come to the conclusion that my posting individual threads a few weeks before these great gun shows here in San Antonio may not be giving everyone enough time to prepare to attend, so for 2014 I’m taking a different approach to letting everyone know about the best gun show in the area, the Premier Original San Antonio Gun Show!

So, instead this year I am going to start one thread listing all the dates, and I’ll post updates and reminders to it so folks can subscribe to it and get everything they need to know without having to find the new thread!

First, there are two shows scheduled so far this year….

    March 22 & 23, 2014
    May 31 & June 1, 2014

Both will be at the Freeman Expo Hall next to the AT&T Center (3201 East Houston Street) here in San Antonio. Hours are Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and Sunday 10am to 4pm; and general admission is still only $8 (cash only), weekend passes are $12 (also cash only) and children UNDER 12 and Uniformed Peace Officers get in free!

And, thanks to the nice folks at Premier, parking is FREE!!

Befriend Premier Gun Shows on Facebook and learn the secret word that gets you a dollar off entry posted before every show, or you can join their email list and get a dollar off as well!

A group of us meet up for breakfast at 8am on Saturdays not far from the show at Teran’s (4403 E Houston St). Feel free to join us if you’re interested!

Again, subscribe to this thread and I’ll post any updates and reminders about a month and two weeks prior to the show!

I may be wrong for saying this but why the heck do they charge so much to walk through the doors!!! It's like going to Costco or Sam's where they sell in bulk and there are no real deals. The dealers should pay for their guest to come and see what they are offering. Then on top of paying to get in they will charge for parking when I can just go to my local gun dealer and pick up what I want. By no going this will save me some money for ammo. I know they need to pay for the location and people need to make money.

How much do you think it costs to rent the facility? Employ all the people working at the show? Security? It's not cheap.

Plus, Premier is paying for the lot which means the city can't charge for it anymore. Figuring how many people show up per show, that's quite a lot of money as well.

The benefit is being able to see, handle and compare a lot of guns in one location. There is not a shop anywhere near big enough to provide such a large selection of firearms and even if there was, you'd be stuck paying their prices. Considering you can also "shop" for the best price by going to different vendors to compare prices, tell me where you can do that in a brick and mortar store?

And as far as most stores go, I usually find better deals at gun shows. Most shops in San Antonio are overpriced, and while you can get better deals online you still have to go through a FFL to get the weapon and you don't get the opportunity to inspect the firearm before purchasing it.

For a couple of hours worth of entertainment, I think it's a bargain. While smaller shows may not be quite as enjoyable or as full of deals, the larger ones such as Premier are definitely worth the time in my book. I have yet to miss one, and do my best not to!

    Cheers! M2

"no real deals." your opinion. I've bought pistols and rifles that were still cheaper including sales tax than if I'd have gone to my LGS or ordered them online. Plus you get to see your item in person, which is something you can't do with an online purchase. I see a lot of shoppers who get a little of everything at these shows. Parts, barrels, maybe some ammo, magazines. Compare the door entrance fee vs paying shipping from 4-5 different online vendors or driving around all over town to 10 different LGS's.

    "
they will charge for parking". Parking is now free at SA Premier show.

When I'm in the mood for a new item, I LOVE being able to see items laid out for fondeling. Also, good luck trying to find a unique military or collector's item at your local gun dealer.

To each his own. Tim and Michelle, the vendors and the supporters all make for an enjoyable time in San Anton.

Are the San Antonio gun shows held in publicly owned facilities? If so, be prepared for your city council or Bexar county commissioners to pull a Biscoe and demand private background checks as a condition for renewal of the lease.

What are you basing that on? There's been no indications of this that I can recall. This isn't Austin y'know....

Your mayor is every bit as left as our county judge, if not moreso. Biscoe and Travis County suffered no fallout by their actions. I fully expect every left-leaning bureaucrat from Brownsville to Amarillo took notice.

Again, I don't know if your shows are held in government owned facilities. If they are, I predict they'll suffer the same fate as the Austin Saxet show.

SA ain't Austin, and I don't see them trying that anytime soon here. Gun shows are big business in SA, whereas they've always have been problematic in Austin!

I heard a city or county official last month on the radio saying he thought it was a good idea...bla bla bha. It's a liberal talking point. It's ain't goin' away, just like that mental disorder called liberalism.

I forgot the dems were pushing for the illegal-and-their-families vote. I suppose it was inevitable that humans (becoming more and more detached from having to work hard for much of anything) would eventually go lib on the whole. But this country was founded on the exact opposite of ideals. If people want to be given everything and receive off the backs of other men...maybe they should move to a more socialist country.

Looking forward to checking out this show where at least I know there will be like-minded folks.

I support gun rights for married homosexuals to protect their homes and their marijuana crop.

    I piss off everyone =)

PS. They do have to be citizens to exercise those rights and privileges.

I share your sentiments exactly. The gun show promoter provides a venue for dealers to sell their wares. It is a flea market of sorts.

The big difference from a flea market, is that I can walk into any gun shop without having to pay a fee.

Dealers pay good money for a table. That alone should satisfy the promoter's greed.

Add insult to injury -- we have to pay for parking.

Who pays for parking at Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, or any other retail establishment?

Then don't fucking go! Geez, enough with the bellyaching; if it's not worth your precious time then do whatever it is that seems to be more important, but your analogies are weak as no gun store will have the huge selection a show has nor would there be competing vendors. A bunch of us go to the Premier show and have a great time, and they treat us like VIPs. We laugh at those who lambast these shows as they are clueless as to what they are missing, but I am sure most would prefer they continue to miss them as they'd only serve to ruin the fun!
