There are a number of hotels in Copperas Cove. Anyone have any recommendations?
My general recommendation would be to stick with the names you know in Killeen or better yet Harker Heights, Belton, or Temple.

Unless you just want something cheap then Cove has what you need with all the usual entertainment included.

Lampasas has a Best Western and a few other decent places if you are coming in the other way.

I'm not familiar with the area or its reputation. While I've heard people cast aspersions on TGT, no one has ever spelled it out in a way I can understand.

So, I'm going to go all aspy here and ask: What do you mean by "all the usual entertainment"?

Do you aspire to be a witness on an episode of "Cops"?

Most of the hotels there have an assortment of drugs, hookers, fights, and other after hours entertainment. The rooms generally aren't up to the high standard of care and cleanliness that most people look for either.

Keep in mind Killeen/ Ft Hood is 10 minutes away and mostly military. Read "shithole". Cove is cheap and gets a lot of their overflow.

That being said, there are nice areas too but probably not BenEnglish nice.

Cove and Killeen are so close to me that I haven't actually stayed there but my help has. They usually want something cheap so I get some good stories. But I think like most cheaper motels if you keep inside with the door closed you won't have any trouble. This policy has served me well for years.

Ive been to Killen twice in the last year. Seems pretty decent out on the highway. All the eating places you expect. Stayed in a Hilton and a Marriot. Good experience.....YMMV:green:

It's like most cities in that respect.

The new highway area is pretty decent. It's the old part of town (or the rest of Killeen) that will really open your eyes to what it's really about.

I would be more inclined to stay at the better name hotels in Temple rather than Killeen. Probably a better bet for a clean room. Heard a few horror stories when I was at Walmart.
