Need a good used revolver for shooting 22 LR shotshell. Just killed a copperhead on my dad's place outside of Conroe. Had to use a piece of pipe that was conveniently lying nearby, but prefer to use a gun next time.

The revolver can be any manufacturer, any capacity, any barrel length. Function over form.

    Scratches, OK.
    Holster wear, OK.
    10,000 rounds fired, OK.
    It just has to work.
If you have a holster for it, even better.

    Thanks for looking.

You may want to up the caliber a touch. The .22lr shotshells are pretty under powered for anything bigger than a grasshopper.

Unless you want to get really close to the target that is. Like muzzle touching the target close.

OK then, a higher caliber revolver for which shotshell are made will be fine too. Definitely do not need a new one. Just one that functions as it should.

Nine shots from my H&R breaktop might do the trick! But you're right about the effective distance...went through paper at 3 yards but the pattern was spreading right zippy!

I use the Heritage .22 magnum shotshells for rattlers. 6" barrel. Works great. I have used .22 lr before. I agree,,,, they really suck.
.38 special shotshells work really good.

My reading comprehension skills are not the best, but it appears that nobody is making an actual offer to sell me a gun, right? LOL.

    It would seem as such.
I do have $0.02 to offer from experience though.
Dawico is right on with the power on .22 shot shells. I have tried them while controlling a rodent population in our hay barn. I shot a rat on a rafter no more than 5ft from the end of the barrel, it knocked him off then he hit the ground running. As a result of that encounter, I gave away the rest of that ammo.

Definitely don't trust them to stop a snake from rattling.
As said earlier, go with a larger caliber handgun with shot shells or just grab the old trusty rust bucket shotgun you find at pawn shops or garage sales for $75 or so.

OK, thanks for the bumps. I am still in the market for a .22LR revolver and a higher caliber revolver as long as there are shotshell rounds for it.

A shotgun won't work because I need to always have the weapon on my person while holding a chainsaw or axe.

I have 2, a 4 3/4 and 6 inch. Better than the price would indicate. And accurate. Just make sure you get one with both the .22 magnum and .22 LR cylinders.
