As posted elsewhere, I got a sweet deal on a Modern Outfitters / Modern Carbine 300 BLK rifle with 16” barrel.
It was a DPD trade-in and in very good condition, and has their full lifetime warranty.

    Basic deets here:
    https://modern-outfitters.com/product/mc5/

It’s very light, a bit over 6 lbs bare.
So I want to keep with the lightweight theme.

    First mod:
Vortex HD LH (Light Hunter) scope with Aero Precision lightweight mount.

    Weight as shown:
    7.6 lbs

    Next up:
Ambi charging handle to replace the non-ambi one it came with.

The fact that it’s matching gray may have influenced my decision

For some reason these Radian Raptors are on sale everywhere lately...but even $50 is borderline criminal

Questions regarding using a pistol buffer tube on a rifle with a 16" barrel: will it function properly with the shorter gas tube? I'm considering a longer barrel and a stock for the pistol I now have. Any comments would be helpful and appreciated.

From what I understand, a pistol length is the better gas tube for a 16" barrel on the 300BLK.

A pistol buffer tube is the same inside as a regular collapsible buffer tube.

With how cheap AR's are, it makes more sense to buy or build a second gun

    Anybody else?

My google-fu tells me that around 2013 nearly all MFR’s went to pistol-length for all 300 BLK barrels up to 16”...previously some were using carbine length for 16” and up.
It’s doubtful anyone is making a barrel longer than 1” in this caliber.

Probably has something to do with all the powder being burned within ~9” anyway
