Just started a new .338 Spectre build.

    GOT

    ~10.5 Pac-Nor SS bbl, 1:6.5" twist
    AGP Forged Lower (Factory SBR'd)
LAR Grizzly A3 upper (blem, 48 bucks!)
A1 stock assembly - for now, who knows what I'll do in the end

    ON ORDER

Paladin Machine 2 position gas block
Apex Machine rifle length hand guards
YHM 9mm XL suppressor - Might perm attach to bbl, making it a one stamp gun

    NEED-OPTICS - I have a Surefire M951 KIT02 NIB that i would like to talk trade/partial trade.

Got it finished. The execution is different from the planning.

    What remained the same:
    ~10.5 Pac-Nor SS bbl, 1:6.5" twist
    AGP Forged Lower (Factory SBR'd)
Paladin Machine 2 position gas block
    YHM 9mm XL suppressor-awaiting stamp

What ended up on the rifle:
RRA Advanced Half Quad with Full Length Top Rail, Rifle Length
    MEGA Billet Side Charging Upper
Young Mfg National Match Bolt Carrier Group w/Side Charger
    Sully Stock

    Will post picts soon.

Let see...I build a new AR everytime I get bored on a rainy day...and I keep boxes and boxes of 300 grain .338 SMKs around for the Lapua...I might need to look into this .338 Spectre business.

Go for it. It was a blast to build. Now, if I could only get some time to make it out to the range. and get my stamp back, and find more 10mm Mag brass, oh, I'd also like a cookie.

300BLK has been getting a bunch of attention lately.
    300 AAC BLACKOUT (300BLK)
    From Jason at AAC "
First the 300BLK in 3 flavors (123gr, 155gr, 220gr) has been submitted to SAAMI and is a completely open standard. No licensing fees at all, anyone is allowed to use it. Reamers, dies, etc should be easily available, as well as ammo made by other manufacturers.
Second, this was not designed as only a suppressed system, it was designed to allow .30 cal use in an AR system primarily- while keeping as much of the weapon system standard as possible, and allowing full-capacity standard magazine use. The smaller powder charge and the larger projectile does allow for very effective suppression, but the ballistics really shine on the supersonic ammo."

I'd love to build something like that. My issue is that I am a leftie and I might burn an eye out or get that hot 338 brass down the shirt shooting it. I remember having lots of fun in Basic with the M16A1s when the range didn't have the clip on deflectors. Went to my first duty station and they had the A2s with the built in deflectors.

Hope it shoots well for ya.

Shot it last weekend. fist size groups at 100yds using Reed's 300SMK fodder. very windy day. I have found out that my reloading skills need some work. Loaded 40 rounds to test and found that I hadn't sized the case right. The shoulder was too far forward, rounds wouldn't chamber. fixed my problem and am waiting to get a chance at 2nd range trip, 20 rounds wasn't near enough,

With this caliber, yes. The round was designed that way by Marty at Teppo Jutsu.
The .338 Spectre is a 10mm Magnum case necked down to .338. The pressure ceilling is about the same as NATO 9mm.
