4 wheeler runs but has problems

Well I finally got the new carb parts for the 4 wheeler, it runs greats. I put fresh gas in the tank. I felt it was idling too high, so I messed with the idle screw did another run and now in 3rd gear it bogs down and coughs. I guess I need to make it idle higher?? Also guys the muffler is making a popping sound every now and then. I know thats not good but, just for running around the farm im fine with it. Note: there isnt a air filter installed at the moment. Is that why it started to bog?

It can have a lot to do with the missing filter. If there was originally an airbox on it, you'll want to test it with the factory airbox in place. Idle screw adjustment should not do anything for 3rd gear running issues. Popping in the exhaust is bad air/fuel ratio most likely. I'd start by putting the stock airbox/filter on and trying a test ride.

Maybe you adjusted the air mixture screwinstead of the idle?? That would account for the missing and bogging.

I adjusted the air/fuel screw to make it leaner, its running rich. Bottom line is I need that air filter on and then tune it.
