Mine’s not too far off from where I started. Mine is pretty aggressive though. Haven’t checked on my TSP recently though. That one is pretty low risk so I don’t know if it’s rebounded as well.

Yeah I'm finally back in the green too, but still trying to claw back what I lost. I usually average 12'ish percent per year (moderate to highly aggressive investing), but right now I'm at 3.3%.

You guys are doing a lot better than I. I have a semi-aggresive portfolio and currently down about 50k. thsi is better than the 100k 3 weeks ago. The advisor feels it will all come back once this tomfoolery is over.

Mine is way down. But thankfully I don't need to be drawing from it, so I can be patient. Plus the dividends are great and they keep coming.

Three of my funds are almost back, one of them is still hurting pretty badly. Could be much worse I suppose.

I feel your pain. Three weeks ago, mine was down about 100k too.

I was down more than that at the peaks, but knew it wasn't worth sweating. Hindsight being what it is, imagine if we would have panic rushed to reallocate everything into bonds, then reallocated now back into the high risk funds ;)

    Retirement ...

Everyone's position is unique. I was amazed at how much money I "had" to spend while working. The little stuff added up pretty quick. I was also amazed at how little I really "had" to spend. I don't drive as much, I don't eat out as much, no dry cleaners and no more contributions to a 401k.

    All those expenses add up.

Let me fill in some blanks ...
I was/am debt free ... just utilities, taxes and insurance.

Retirement is so much more than I anticipated. I highly recommend it.

I have a huge amount of sympathy for those who are not in a financial position to retire.

Some folks lost a pension they had earned and counted on. Some saw their company savings plan (think GE here, as one example) evaporate as the company stock took a nose dive. Others have been hit by huge and unusual expenses (cancer, long term care, disability, etc.). Long term unemployment because most employers don't like to hire anyone over the age of 50. Lots of valid reasons.
