Anyone rocking one of these? Pros/cons? What's the recoil like? Now that I have a SilencerCo Hybrid... I thought it would be a good "HogThumper". Any platforms to stay away from? Any and all thoughts are welcomed.
I can only attest to the recoil of a 450BM. I can't see the 458 being that far off from it. I've never shot it personally. As for the recoil on 450... It'll loosen teeth. It's a no joke why they call the 45 sized round in an AR...Thumper. It's everything you think it is.
400 grain subsonic suppressed? Yeah, that ought to do the trick. BRW, my 450 with a break doesn’t kick bad at all. About like a 20 gauge.
Ok thanks guys. I'll look into it some more... I told the wife I had everything I needed. Hmmm.... white lie?
I'd compare the .458 Socom recoil with that of a 12 gauge field load. I do NOT like recoil, but it was not excessive. I load only 300 grain bullets designed for the 45-70 for my own rifles, but I've fired other rifles in .458 Socom from SBR and suppressed form owned by my friends. It's pretty impressive and the hunters around here have dropped hogs and deer. They drop like sacks of rocks! A non scientific comparison puts the .458 Socom 300 grain and 45-70 300 grain real close in performance. Flash
Nope. I've shot it off the bench. It's a Son of a B-itch. Folks can say it's not that much all day long. It'll put you back. Lean into a 12ga on some bags. Get in good and slowly squeeze.
