That is one reason the 458 SOCOM is appealing. I only need to buy the upper and the bolt, then pin it on my AR15.

Maybe everything gun wise but an upper is an accessory, don't count.

I had picked up a .458 socom BCG and stripped upper from Primary Arms on sale earlier this year. Then they had a barrel on sale a month or so later...haven’t built it yet. Waiting to get dies and bullets. May find some commercial rounds to start with. In the mean time my hybrid 46 is in NFA jail....should be out around Christmas time.....

Got it out yesterday. Had feeding issues. Will work that out. But the Bear Creek Arsenal upper shot great.

    What a fun gun.....

Didn't shoot it at steel yesterday, but I bet it would!

    Are you reloading ?
I am looking to reload the 405 gr Remington Semijacketed flatpoint similar to what you have in the picture.
Trying to figure out the powder to start with.

There is another thread on here somewhere that talks more details. It was mentioned by a member that he used H110, so I use that powder. Already had it for 300 Blk, so I used it.

You may want to check load data for the 405 and see what powders are suggested. You might already have one.

The Lyman book had several listed, not the same ones for different bullet weights.

Well, I'm confused. My Lyman book had OAL at 2.24 for 300g bullets. I looked online last night, and saw loads with OAL at around 2.1 for 300g bullets.

I got some more research to do.
