Most likely a mass-cal drill at Camp Bullis, and mass-cal drills call for lots of medevac helos. Then, they gotta burn off all that fuel and get more air time for quals. Glad they did it on 9/11. Gentle reminder.

I saw a convoy of 4-5 transportation and border security trucks escorting a yellow penske box van on 59 near 610 today. 3-4 Ford F250s and one Ford Edge. All drivers were uniformed agents. Wonder what was in that box van.

SF guys I met on a military range rolled in, in a box truck. Nice guys, without name tapes, who took over the range. Weird day. Doubt they travel on the interstate like that though.

As much as I normally don't agree with SIG_Fiend in these matters, Blackhawks over SA wouldn't concern me too much, like they wouldn't if I lived right outside of Ft Hood.

I'm not sure where people are reading concern. It peaked my curiosity as to who would be operating out this way at night.

Considering there was more than 2, I'd say there were doing training flights, qualification flights or some other type exercise. If they were on a domestic anti-drug or some other mission, I imagine they'd just have 2 up but I don't know much about how air assets are deployed or their SOP.

We were free to read the thread with whatever emotion we imagined. You left the scene open for interpretation with one liners and a few that posted early in the thread directed it to sound skeptical. So that's the direction it went. With the way this forum leans, skeptical of govt/mil is not out of the question.

Anyway, that's what I thought when I read the thread.

Always living near an NAS or AB, I find it weird if I am not seeing mil aircraft.

If you're in San Antonio and want to see something awesome, go to hwy 151 and old hwy 90. If you stand at the animal control service grounds, you can watch the different fighter jets do touch and gos. When they come over, they are so low that you can see the pilots face

Very cool. Up here in FTW I will stop for a little while at Cabelas and watch the touch and gos at Alliance. If final is from the south, they buzz right over and same thing, can see what sunglasses the pilots are wearing.

Last weekend we watched a C47 make some rounds (out of Meecham I think). That was really neat.

My house growing up was in the flight path of Lackland. I remember watching the c5s come over so low and slow it looked like they were just going to fall out of the sky. I'm also pretty sure our pool was the landmark the jets used to know when to kick in their afterburners.

Hah nice. If any of the ladies in your house laid out by the pool, you bet 110% they used your place as a landmark ;)

As a kid we lived on final to Chase Field in Beeville. I definitely remember those big jets hanging over and shaking the place. We lived in a mobile home at that time (yeah, I was a trailer park kid). I'm surprised none of the places fell off their blocks and rolled away.
