I didn't know 147gr would go supersonic from a longer barrel.

My reloads only show about 70fps difference from 5" ported barrel to 16" Uzi barrel, but I'm using a terrible powder for the application.

What kinda speed were you getting? Have you ever crony any american eagle 147gr?

I was only getting 1000fps out of the 16" barrel. ~930 from the 5" barrel using 147gr heavy plated.

I was using 3.8gr Autocomp which isn't supposed to be good for 147s but didn't have anything better. Should have been mid range loads but barely cycled the XDm. Uzi ran fine. Haven't had time to play with any other loads.

So, back on topic.....(what has become of me?)

Are the 9mm ARs finicky with tuning or do they tend to work across the board with most ammo like a regular .223/5.56 AR?

You have to run very heavy buffers and springs to guarantee reliable feeding. The bolt hold open can also be tricky. Many lowers don't have the BHO feature.

My gun stays in the night stand. If someone breaks in they can have it after they get through the alarm, 100# German Shepherd and the stay at home mom that has a gun within a few feet of her at all times. If they did steal my pistol and can I'll buy another one. I'm not restrictions my access to it in an emergency for the "what if" of someone breaking in.

Scott, what is your estimated cost, minus the suppressor and tax stamps (I already have my Eco-9...)?

I want to be very clear... You can definitely do this build with cheaper parts than I selected. Prices for the can have gone down considerably since I originally purchased. You can do cheaper parts, and even the same parts cheaper than I have listed if you have the resources. I'm lucky that my dad is an FFL, so I can usually get at least 10% off most parts I order. Here is the revised part list with EVERYTHING itemized.

    The Part List:

    Lower:
    QC 10 GSF 9mm Lower...$290.60
    Spike’s LPK+KNS Pins...$80.00
    Magpul CTR Stock... $56.95
    Magpul BAD Lever...$28.45
    Geiselle SSA-E Trigger... $230.00
    VLTOR Buffer Tube... $44.60
QD End Plate (Magpul ASAP)... $28.45
    Castle Nut... $10

    Lower Total: $769.05

    Upper:
VLTOR MUR Upper w/ No Forward Asst... $170.95
Quentin Defense KMR 9” Rail... $149.00
    ADCO 5” Barrel Threaded ½” x 28... $170.00
    JP 9mm Bolt... $249.95
JP 9mm Silent Captured Spring... $149.95
PRI Gas Buster Charging Handle... $100.00
BCM Keymod Vertical Grip Short... $39.95
BCM Keymod Quick Detach Sling Mount... $17.95

    Upper Total: $1,047.75

    Incidentals/Already Purchased:
    Aimpoint T1 Micro 4MOA Larue Mount... $674.00
AAC TiRant 9mm... $850 (although you get them now from SilencerShop for $400)
ATF Tax Stamp for Can... $200.00
ATF Tax Stamp For Lower... $200.00

    Incidentals: $1924.00

GRAND TOTAL INVESTED (Including tax stamps, can, and optics): $3,767.80.
Grand Total For Gun Only (excluding tax stamps, can, and optics): $1,843.80

Please note: most prices represent MSRP. I didn't pay MSRP for all parts except the lower, barrel, bolt and buffer. Prices also do not include tax and shipping, except for the lower which includes tax and shipping.

ETA: DOH! Already forgot $50 for the engraving. Please add to incidentals.

I was like this seems like a good idea until I saw the price. :-)
