Not paying attention I bought a 9mm Luger 9x21 reloading die when I want to load 9x19. I think I know the answer but can I use the 9x21 die to load 9x19 or do I need a 9x19 die set?

Most die sets are labeled for both.
Contact die manufacturer as a die set made for a longer case may not work well for a shorter case cartridge

Youll be fine... its the same.

I think that article missed the reason 9X21 is used for competition in the US.

The case design is the same as 9X19, but the longer loading makes it easier to hit Major power factor. Don’t think it’s anything to do with likelihood of a malfunction. Not really relevant, but I hate when articles post stuff that is just wrong.

The instructions may call for screwing the die in differently for 9x19 vs 9x21 brass. Should be the only difference.

Called Hornady and they said I’m good to go. The die will reload both
