Really a shame they feel a need to come in shooting....one very lucky individual there, shame the owner did not hit his target.

You think only badguys are bad shots? Think again:

From a study of NYPD shootouts (see the whole study here):

Hit Potential In Gun Fights

The police officer's potential for hitting his adversary during armed
confrontation has increased over the years and stands at slightly over 25% of
the rounds fired. An assailant's skill was 11% in 1979.

In 1990 the overall police hit potential was 19%. Where distances could be
determined, the hit percentages at distances under 15 yards were:

Less than 3 yards ..... 38%
3 yards to 7 yards .. 11.5%
7 yards to 15 yards .. 9.4%

In 1992 the overall police hit potential was 17%. Where distances could be
determined, the hit percentages at distances under 15 yards were:

Less than 3 yards ..... 28%
3 yards to 7 yards .... 11%
7 yards to 15 yards . 4.2%

38% hits at less than 10 feet...

Train right, train hard and keep your head in the fight for as long as the rest of you is.

That is staggering. I guess in the heat of a gun battle, it's harder than most people think. I would have bet I could hit center of mass on a man sized target a very high percentage of time at 3 yards. But perhaps not. Hope I never have to find out.

It would be a whole nother ball game if targets at the range shot back, lol....makes me wonder what I would be doing. :(
