I have a new friend that saw some of my knives and said he had a hand made knife a friend of his had made who was/is a knife maker who made it when we was just getting into the trade.

In passing he said he wanted to give it to me and I said I would appreciate it but never thought more of it until I got home one evening and he texted me and said he left me something on my front porch.

This knife is a little crude but I’m impressed. It’s s Kukri style blade about 10 inches long, full tang with Micarta handles and partial serrations and some impressive file work or jimping all along the spine.
I’m proud to own this blade.
It looks like the point was rounded a bit during sharpening, but I can fix that. I may try to dress up the sheath with some dye also. But I am so happy and thankful and will be giving him a coin next time I see him.

And before anyone ask, there is nothing on it saying what steel was used. Any guesses would be appreciated.

Funny ...After seeing the spine pictures up close I saw their was some polishing material embedded in there so I took a nylon brush and cleaned it out.

Depending on the persons preference of steels available... leaf springs are pretty popular for beginners to use. If they got cash to burn up learning they could have used flat bar stock from a steel supply house.
