Another great story from Kalifornia.....the trainer worked for the Sheriff's department.

Told guy to unload the firearm. The instructors inspect them and then the instructor did a "Trigger Test"?

Is that how you see if the firearm is unloaded?

Accidents like this are going to happen when civilians are allowed to have access to dangerous weapons. At least the cop went home safe.

I wonder what his first thought was. I thought is was unloaded. Maybe?

    Interesting statement in the article...

Sheriff Chad Bianco made expediting the time it takes to process the permits one of his priorities during his successful 2018 campaign to become sheriff.

"Although California is a 'may' issue state, my position aligns more with 'shall,' " Bianco wrote on his campaign website. "I believe that every person who desires a concealed weapons permit, otherwise not prevented by law or psychological concern, should be granted a permit."

The article also said that permit applications have surged.

In many competitions, uspsa, for example, once a shooter is done with a stage, the ro will say, 'If you are done with the stage, unload and show clear,' at which point you drop your mag, rack the slide back, holding it so the officer can see the empty chamber. Then he will say, "Slide forward. Hammer down." Once that's done, "Range is clear."

At 'hammer down' command, you pull the trigger, but the important part is that the RO sees the empty chamber BEFORE issuing 'slide forward/release slide' and the 'hammer down' commands.

BUT: The gun is ALWAYS pointed down range, in a safe direction, with NO people or body parts in front of it... simple rules...

There is no reason to press the trigger if you dont intend for the gun to go bang, except to take the slide off a Glock. Real perfection there, I tell ya.
